Ben niet overtuigd. Halen een SS om 3B te spelen zodat hij 2B kan spelen als na 2018 het contract van Kinsler afloopt. Nou ja, er is in ieder geval over nagedacht. Goeie verdediger wel. Kan aan de beelden niet zien of hij de arm heeft om snel naar 1st te gooien of niet.

Als je de armen can Simmons en Cozart vergelijkt dan is Simmons veruit de betere optie op 3B. Cozart is wat houterig maar wel een sterke SS zo te zien. Verschil op 3B is groter dan op SS? Een coach met lef gaat beginnen met Pujols 1B, Kinsler, 2B, Cozart SS, Simmons 3B en Ohtani DH.

Outfield staat prima en daar hoeft niks aan te wijzigen. Ontbreekt alleen nog goede werpers. Op papier zit dat wel snor maar in de praktijk kun je na hooguit een maand door de meeste namen een streep halen.

De O's hebben een veteran catcher nodig, 3 strating pitchers en nog wat spul en ik krijg de indruk dat ze dat voor 75% willen oplossen door Machado te traden. Trade Britton en Schoop ook maar en begin net zoals Houston heeft gedaan opnieuw, kan je over 4/5 jaar echt sterk zijn.

Machado krijg je maar voor 1 jaar dat maakt het lastig omdat de O's natuurlijk wel spelers terug willen krijgen waar ze vroeg of laat wat aan hebben.

Daarom krijg je een 72 uur window waarin je contractverlengeing kan afspreken. We verliezen onze andere tradebeat Britton ook nog door een off season blessure. Ik heb 7 leuke jaren meegemaakt de afgelopen tijd, ben bang dat de 7 zeer donkere er weer aankomen.

With the Red Sox still interested in acquiring Orioles third baseman/shortstop Manny Machado, Ian Browne of MLB.com weighs in on a potential trade between the AL East rivals. Browne senses that the Red Sox don’t want to trade either shortstop Xander Bogaerts or center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. this offseason, but he concedes that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the former head to Baltimore as part of a Machado deal. The Red Sox would be losing two years of Bogaerts for a single season of control over Machado. As such, if Boston acquires Machado, it would make an aggressive push to re-up the superstar in order to prevent him from leaving as a free agent next winter, Browne adds. The Orioles still face a difficult path, all the more so given that the team will evidently be paying Zach Britton a full arbitration salary for what might be little more than a half season of work. Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun writes that, while the rotation market still hasn’t moved much, some of the arms from Baltimore’s potential target demographic are among those that have found new teams. Meanwhile, Steve Melewski of MASNsports.com considers the question of whether the team will look to make second baseman Jonathan Schoop a part of a new long-term core — and, if so, how much it might cost to get something done.

Jay Bruce or Neil Walker are “highly unlikely” to sign with the Mets, Newsday’s Marc Carig said in an appearance on The Orange & Blue Thing show (Facebook link, Carig joins around the 21:00 mark). The possibility can’t be entirely ruled out, however, given the nature of this “weird offseason” that has seen so many top free agents remain available as we approach the start of January. Carig’s segment is well worth a full listen, as he also discusses such topics as the communication issues that has plagued the Mets’ organization and (along those same lines) his recent commentary criticizing team ownership for its lack of transparency.

Shohei Ohtani can sit in the upper 90s with his fastball and make hitters look just as helpless with his power slider and diving splitter. As an outfielder, he offers exceptional raw power and arm strength to go with well-above-average speed.

There's no word yet on whether Ohtani is able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. He has yet to play in a single game in the United States after starring in Japan and signing with the Angels for $2,315,000 in December, and he had a platelet-rich plasma injection in his pitching elbow in October.

That didn't stop a group of club executives from anointing Ohtani as baseball's best overall prospect and best pitching prospect, making him the first player to earn both distinctions in MLB Pipeline's third annual survey. Corey Seager and Andrew Benintendi won the previous votes as top prospect, while Lucas Giolito and Alex Reyes were the top pitchers.

Komt Ohtani nog bij? Als die Tommy John ooit HOFer wordt dan toch zeker met een Angels cap op.

Volgens de huidige stand van de HOF-tracker - met 44% van de ballots publiek bekend - lijken Vlad Guerrero (94.7%), Chipper Jones (98.4 %) en Jim Thome (93%) zeker van een plek, zit Edgar Martinez met 80% iets boven de 75% en Trevor Hoffman er vlak boven (78.1 %).
Vijf inductees via votes zou veel zijn. Ik geloof zelfs voor het eerst sinds in 1936 de oorspronkelijke vijf spelers waarmee de HOF startte verkozen werden.

Voor Martinez en Hoffman wordt het spannend. Uiteindelijke percentages liggen toch vaak ietsje lager dan bij de tracker. Voor Hoffman zou dat zuur zijn. Die miste vorig jaar op 1 % de HOF. Voor Martinez wordt het tricky. Dit is zijn negende keer op het formulier. Tien is het maximum. Hij lijkt wel een flinke sprong te maken ten opzichte van vorig jaar.
