Do you actually rate him ? I watched the 3 times he played and did not think he was a defender. A Spurs friend told me the guy was utter crap at defending when at Spurs. We are paying him 1.5m euros a year and since early Sept he has been paid 30000 per week to play in the reserve team.Ajax really must be more choosy on who they buy.
If he is out to Jan and then plays in the African nations Cup we wont see him to late February.

Meanwhile a 20 year old local lad ,who is basically a right footed defensive midfielder, plays left back in the first and looks as if he can actually defend.

From what I've seen: no, I don't think I rate him. Physically strong, so he can correct some of his own mistakes, but he does weird things. He's a bit of a clown and he takes a lot of risk, defensively. This is very obviously a bad buy. He wasn't expensive, but he makes 1.4 million a year, which makes him a big earner by Ajax standards - and that's a waste of money this way.

When Ajax signed him up I received text messages and e-mails from my mates in London (some of whom are Spurs fans) and a guy in Hamburg whom I know and their comments worried me: What the f*ck are Ajax doing? Are they mad? The guy is a clown!

So far Atouba didn't prove them wrong...

Is the damage ligament where he will be gone all season? At best he is semi-capable player. I saw him over the last couple years at Hamburg and he was hot and cold. Athletically talented but a head case.

To put Thimothee Atouba's Ajax career thus far in computer terms, this guy is an Epic Fail ! It's ashame. Ajax doesn't have the deepest defense and could use a versatile defender. Too bad, 1.4 worth, he ain't it.

Formally, Atouba is still an Ajax player, but he has already left the club. His contract will officially expire on 30 June and will not be renewed.

Which makes him a Former Ajax Player.
