Epic win by Ajax ladies 2-1 over Roma and they go through to the KO round of the Champions League. I only was able to watch the first half as I had a Board of Directors meeting.

Ajax ladies get the "best" of a bad draw in the CL. Since they played PSG in the group stage, the choices were Lyon, Barca (current holders) or Chelsea. they drew Chelsea and it will be good if they can fill the Cruyff Arena for the home match. Ajax are still 2nd in the Eredivisie and play Feyenoord this coming Sunday. I think the match is in the Cruyff Arena.

Easy win over Feyenoord 4-0. 16 year old Lily Yohannes was WOTM with the early match winner and an assist on the third goal as well.

I'm getting a lot of pleasure watching the Ajax ladies play this season. They split the pair of matches with top of table FC Twente but are in second place because of three draws against lesser competition (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). Ajax are nine points ahead of PSV with a favorable schedule the rest of the way. They have a tough draw in the Women's Champions League, facing Chelsea next Tuesday in the Cruyff Arena. There will be streams available to watch the game.

Over 34,000 tickets have been sold for Tuesday's game between the Ajax and Chelsea ladies' teams in the Cruyff Arena. Ajax will be underdogs, but they have played good football this season and I will be watching for an upset!! Match should be televised in both Holland and England.

Ajax fought hard but were clearly missing Spitse who might have brough a bit of order to the back line. Some critical turnovers deep in their half gave Chelsea plenty of opportunities and on the other end, Ajax could not trouble the Chelsea goal at all. Hard to see them coming back from 0-3 in London but they will come out hard. If only Ajax can keep this team together for a couple of years they might be able to move up a level. The majority of the players on the pitch tonight are under 23 years of age. Unfortunately, just as in the men's game, the English teams just have too much money. With Spitse out, only Leuchter is a capped Dutch NT player and it's hard to see her staying around next season. Chelsea has a bunch of NT players from England, Norway and Sweden.

Ajax are still alive in the Dutch Cup and favored to win it as Twente were knocked out. Cup game with Feyenoord should be interesting.

The Ajax Ladies were knocked out of the Champions League last night as they managed a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea. They played a much better match than the home game and had some very good chances on goal that just missed. They are four points behind Twente in second place and can lock up second with a draw against PSV this weekend. This will ensure a place in the Champions League play in matches next year.
