Davids is this week in Amsterdam for the SuriProfs isn't it? He will have talks with Blind then.

That are my suggestions of a former Ajacied returning to Ajax.

I personally hope that Ajax will buy a replacer for Escude, because he will never be a tough defender. Way to many "Frank de Boertjes" as we say. That means that he makes a few critical bad moves. We need some kind of Chivu or Alex type player there.

Escudé was one of the best of the season and he's pretty much the only Ajax player who spends hours doing power-training. He's become much tougher than he used to be and was almost flawless this season. Yesterday he did quite well against a very fast opponent. Yet, he blocked almost every attempt of his man to cross or shoot.

Great Ajacied - Escudé. A good captain, too. Top purchase. Seriously.

I am not so sure that Davids will come back, it would hurt his pride and there are other teams out there that want him. Bergkamp is going back to Arsenal. Andy vDM will probably go elsewhere as well. However, the one player that I would like to see back and has stated his intention to return is Christian Chivu. I'd take him over ANY of our defenders that we have right now anyday! He is looking to get out of Roma quickly if possible and I think that Roma will have to sell him given their poor.

No, I mean : "Steef, get out of San Marco's body !!!".

His post about Escudé being girlish is so untrue that it is ridiculous. Look at how he controlled the air all season long (he is excellent with the header), how he made few mistakes (unlike last year), how he got involved much more in the offensive play and hence the number of goals he scored. Blind trusts him and Grygera, he is now the captain, has been MOTM many times. How could you not be satisifed ?

My advice if you need tougher guys : become either a

Den Haag
Utrecht
or Feyenoord

supporter, and then you'll get as much dirty play and bad passes as you want ;)

BTW : Alex is a shame to Brazilian football, my friend Igor (whose mother's from Fortaleza) burnt his Brazilian passport when he saw him on TV against Lyon :D :D :D

I am convinced of SQD's talent and professionalism, but not of his particular usefulness in the style of football that Blind has in mind.

If things go as planned, the amount of space between the last line of defenders will grow larger and larger as the team learns to keep the pressure on the opponent for longer stretches of time.
This requires tough and fast defenders. SQD could be the 'Frank de Boer' of this team, but then the rest of the defense would have to change a lot compared to now. No more backs like Maxwell and Trabelsi, but instead players like Reiziger and Bogarde. I wonder if they can be found and if Blind finds SQD worth the search.

Escudé and Grygera are top drawer. Simple as that. Superior defenders.

The one part of the team we do not have to worry about, in my opinion.

Danny Blind heeft niet veel spelers meer nodig


Ajax-trainer Danny Blind zegt in het Algemeen Dagblad (AD) dat hij niet zoveel spelers meer nodig heeft voor volgend seizoen. Gisteren werd bekend dat hij ook Yannis Anastasiou wil behouden.

Mocht Ajax Anastasiou daadwerkelijk een nieuw contract aanbieden, dan zal de transfer van een nieuwe spits naar Ajax deze zomer niet meer plaatsvinden. Wel verwacht men in ieder geval het vertrek van Hatem Trabelsi en Rafael Van der Vaart. In dat geval zullen er vermoedelijk hooguit een a twee verdedigers worden bijgehaald, vooral omdat Maxwell een zware blessure heeft.
