For those who didn't read it yet: VDV picked up an ankle injury in training this week and Ajax.nl has confirmed that he will be out for at least two (perhaps four) weeks. Which means: no Classic, no Willem II cup game.
Too bad he's unavailable, but it seems like he's lost his spot anyway. I'm pretty sure Blind will hold on to De Jong, Maduro and Sneijder in midfield, with Pienaar playing on the right flank upfront. VDV would have been on the bench again, I guess.
The number of injuries is on the increase... Charisteas, Rosales, Raffy... Never a good thing.

Sylvies's other half is still in the team? He's been missing so often,I hear his picture is now on milk cartons throughout Amsterdam. Seriously, good luck to Raffie and Sylvie! That said, bring in someone who does want to be part of the side , and hopefully a renaissance of form as well.

VDV is quoted: "HSV is a big club and should not be underestimated. I'm 22 years old and this could be a good step in my career."
Yeah right.
Yup....and HSV have just failed (as of yesterday) to qualify for the Champions League. Smart move Rafael.... :xyxthumbs:

In Tottenham he might not be guaranteed a starting line-up spot. That is one of the biggest factors in Raffie's decision. HSV are indeed a club with lots of tradition and history. Currently, they are building on a very decent team with the young likes of other talents, such as Khalid Bouhlarouz and Emile Mpenza. I am sure they will be candidates within the Bundesliga for European football next season. It is remarkable that Rafael is signing a four-year contract. This is clearly not a short-term thing for him. I have faith in Rafael's decision. I am sure we will see him dribbling at another European topclub again sometime.
Good luck, Rafael v.d. Vaart!

I knew, that the price for him will be less (he said, that he wants to leave Ajax and he won't sign new contract), but the board should wait for a moment for better offer... It is not nice to see one of our best players leaving us for playing in average (did I use it correctly??? Average = not bad, but also not the best????) team in Bundesliga... I think, that Ajax would be better step in his future than Hamburg... I don't understand his decision...

The way I see it, the people who run these clubs aren't stupid, or at least not stupid enough to not realise that Hamburg has put in a bid. If English clubs were interested in VDV, they would have probably mentioned it to Ajax by now, even if they could not cobble together the precise details of a bid. ie, any clubs interested would be able to buy some time before the Hamburg deal goes through. If that hasn't happened, I guess you can assume noone else was seriously interested.ZoefdeHaas schreef:Transfer window hasn't even opened yet, and they got the summer, I agree with you that they should wait for better offers, such as those form england

The teams that are interested from England don't have that kind of cash to spend. Other thatn Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal, the rest don't spend much.ZoefdeHaas schreef:Transfer window hasn't even opened yet, and they got the summer, I agree with you that they should wait for better offers, such as those form england
Let him go to Hamburg and fade away if he wants to. They will always be mid table. He should have gone to Villareal like Forlan did to resurrect his career instead. 5 million? SOLD!
BTW, I agree, it was nice to see him leave on a high note instead of struggling. I will always remeber him scoring the back heel kick against Feyenoord.

Lucas schreef:VdV played many years for Ajax. He wants to go to Hamburg en already has agreed a deal with them. The decent thing to do is to come to terms with HSV and not wait for a better offer from a club VdV might not want to go to. The guy deserves it!
