Yeh common sense tells you that, but we are talking Ajax here. What will happen is that we will be drawn with Inter in the CL and sell KJH to them with about 2 seconds to go before the transfer deadline. :furious3:WP_LeGeNd schreef:we bought him for that money, so I would think at least double that amount would be necessary to sell him.

To be fair, I think van Geel is a little smarter than that.Over Pasanens Head schreef:Yeh common sense tells you that, but we are talking Ajax here. Is that Trinity, Texas?Leglaen schreef:I really hope that we keep Huntelaar for quite some time, and I don't see much of a reason for us to pay 9 million euros for him and then sell him for a similar amount 6 months later. Besides, from what I understand the guy likes Ajax a lot, and we should use that!

Yeah, aveslacker, it is. I talked with you on the old soccerpages board last year, and I've been reading/lurking here ever since, but I haven't posted virtually at all.
But yeah, I'm in Houston now for the summer and as my location says, I'll be in Russia for the fall and Prague in the spring, hopefully able to get to see an Ajax match or two.
But, this is a Huntelaar thread, so I'll have to put something relevant here...I really hope that KJH does superb in Germany, and that he stays here for a few more years-at least 2.

As far as Huntelaar goes, I'm actually hoping he doesn't get called up/play a lot. I'd like him to stay fresh for next season.

Who would he replace? Van Nistlerooij? He's good, but not nearly as experienced (nor as good - yet) as RvN. Robben, van Pussy, Kuijt? He plays very differently from those guys. Hesselink? Totally different.
Right now the Dutch team has loads of excellent attacking players. In many cases bringing up young players to Oranje too soon has hurt the players more than it has harmed them. Heitinga, de Jong, and Babel are all guys that have been brought to Oranje too early, resulting in some harm to their development as players.
If there were no other options, fine. But Oranje has loads of options, and there is simply nothing to gain in the long term. KJH could well be the striker of the future. Better to let him get integrated into the team/system in the Euro 08 qualifying campaign.

Just the first of many rumors to crop up here in silly season. No doubt in my mind we'll see more KJH rumors, Grygera to... rumors, maybe Heitinga to...also. One would hope the administration at Ajax would review the Ajax before KJH and Ajax after KJH records and immediately reach the conclusion that Ajax are hurtin' for certain without him.

Hehe I'm afraid that he's done it! KJH is the first Eredivisie topscorer from Ajax since Jari Litmanen in 1994.
Anyway- I think that we all agree that his transfer will be one of the most stupid things we can do at the moment. I hope that his big love for Ajax is not just empty word, and we could see him for a long time...

If he doesn't get called up, won't he go to the U-20's? There he'll definitely get playing time, so he may be fresher for next season if he makes it to the top team.aveslacker schreef: As far as Huntelaar goes, I'm actually hoping he doesn't get called up/play a lot.
