Everyone. Quite simply, for better or worse (worse in my opinion), money is the main driving force of football. Period.
Don't you "Period" me PDX :)
Sitting here at work on another gray and rainy day, this made me laugh.

Great news! According to ajax.nl Ajax have signed a deal with Warner Home Video to publish a number of DVD's with Ajax history.

The first four will be:
- 105 years of Ajax, a historical overview
- 1995!, including the Champions League Final
- The Golden Years ('70s and '30s(!))
- The 100 most beautiful Ajax-goals

It's not mentioned explicitly, but it looks like they will be distributed worldwide:

[quote="Maarten Fontein"]“Ajax is well known across the world. That's why we're really happy about this cooperation with Warner Home Video, who, as a big international distributor of video, can take care of optimal distribution of our DVD'sâ€

Ha! It makes perfect sense to discuss that here, I must say...

I just published a news report on Ajax USA:
http://www.ajax-usa.com/news/2005-2006/ ... -dvds.html

And my idea was to discuss it here:
http://www.ajaxtalk.nl/portal/viewtopic.php?t=4931

But why not here, in fact... :D :xyxthumbs:

Wow - thanks for posting that one! :xyxthumbs:

Great read, about a great book. I bought it. It's the most comprehensive book ever written about the 'Golden Era' of the early 1970s. This book must be translated into English, if only for my good mate Over Pasanen's Head.

I put this link up as a news link on the Ajax USA homepage. Plus a few more new ones.

Just re-posting this one...
bryan schreef:I was just reading the excellent Ajax USA "History of Ajax" section, which truly shites all over the official Ajax site from a very great height, when I noticed minor error:
A second title followed a year later, this time secured without a single defeat. The man largely responsible was the successor to John Kirwan: Jack Reynolds, once again an Englishman.
Kirwan was Irish, so "once again" can be dropped here.

Does anybody have anymore information about Ajax's first coach, John Kirwan, by the way? I'd be very interested to find out anything about him.
Thanks for your praise, mate. I'm glad you like our history section. :xyxthumbs:

To be honest with you, it's quite old (about five years now) and I think it could be a lot better. A year or two ago I re-wrote the first chapter:
http://www.ajax-usa.com/history/ajax/th ... _ajax.html

That one is now the way it should be -- including pictures. The rest is still 'old style' and one day (one day! ) I will find the time to re-do all the other chapters as well.

Anyway - thanks for your correction. Page is updated now!

Ko, as always. Great read mate :xyxthumbs:

BTW - Still cleaning out my video collection (and converting them to DVD) and the latest was 'Goal - De Mooiste Doelpunten van het Seizoen 89/90'.

Man what a laugh. The shorts (and I mean shorts), the hair, the poor stadiums and bad pitches etc. The Eredivisie has come a long way since then (well for some of the clubs).

I am hanging out for the new season. I have high hopes as always...bring it on!

We launched the July 1991 installment without picture, because I'd run out of pictures and didn't have time to scan up a bunch of new ones. Well, that's taken care of now, so we added some pretty cool pics to the July installment now. The bottom one is our favourite. It's just too silly.

Christ,

I just read the interview you had with Jari, and tears are in my eyes again.
You had the oppertunity to talk to the person Jari you cannot even understand how jealous I am.

Jari is without doubt one of the greatest foreigners who ever played for our beloved Ajax and thinking of the soccer player Jari Litmanen brings back so many beloved Ajax moments.

And you had the oppertunity to talk to him thats just... wow

Remember Ajax - AS Roma where Jari played his best match on the second term of Jari at Ajax... *shrug*
