Yeah, but that's why it works for them, since they don't have to worry about Suarez's being cup tied.philippe schreef:Liverpool would not be a good choice for Luis : no CL.

Re: Luis Suárez
i believe he has played his last match for ajax. see reports that he will sign on wednesday pending a medical, but as always don't know how credible this is. it is certain that liverpool have formally approached ajax. hope to see a nice figure of 27.5 million

Re: Luis Suárez
Apparently he wants to go to Liverpool since there are lots of Spanish speaking players. I think it is a really bad move on his part. Liverpool is a sinking ship with virtually no chance of even Europa League next year! Does he think that Torres is going to stick around next year? Not a chance. Even he can't rescue them. They have 4 or 5 good players and the rest are garbage.

Staying in the Premeirship (ridiculous as that sounds) is their priority....
His fighting spirit, and ability to change a tight game is what they're desperate for...

Re: Luis Suárez
Notice how the only actual quote in the article is from Babel saying that he would be willing to return to Ajax? There's nothing of substance at all in that piece. It might as well come from goal.com.cdnajaxfan schreef:De Boer's backup plan for Suarez?:

I don't see Suarez going anywhere this winter. And if he does, it had better be for at least 25 million pounds or something like that.

Re: Luis Suárez
De Boer and the board see the matter exactly like you, Aveslacker. The coach says Suarez will go only for a "absurd offer" from an "absolute top team". which is good.
O tempora o mores
Re: Luis Suárez
Good to read the above 2 posts and that we hopefully wont sell him unless its a hugh amount . I do not think he will go this month . Spurs wont pay over 20m euros and although Liverpool are one of the footballing giants they have fallen on hard times and wont be in Europe next season . No idea why anyone like Suarez would want to join Liverpool at present other than money and he earns over 2m euros per year at Ajax.

Re: Luis Suárez
That was all before Suarez got tired of eating at Argentine steakhouses and decided to try to eat Bakkal instead. A guy with an 8 match ban lost value pretty quickly. Let's face it, I think his ship is sailing and for some strange reason it seems to be sailing for the Port of Liverpool.
Re: Luis Suárez
the reports from today's english papers . All think he will go but price is the problem.
Ajax want 30m euros but would take as little as 25m but Liverpool will only pay 21.5m euros and if Babel is included then 15m euros. I suspect the 25m is the sum both may agree . And there is a rumour that Spurs will pay the asking price.
Gut feeling is that we have seen the last of him but we must get 25m euros min. I think Ajax should put a limit to next Monday after which he stays what ever the offers. We will need to get a replacement and cannot wait until the end of next week .

Re: Luis Suárez
I agree w you Orange Goblin. I could live with that. Spurs are starting to look like Ajax if they bring in Suarez!
Re: Luis Suárez
Villa signed Darren Bent for £24 million. Yes, he is a proven Premiership goalscorer and Luis isn't, but Luis must be worth AT LEAST the same.
Re: Luis Suárez
Decision day today Liverpool are talking . Rumours say liverpool will offer 23.5m euros which is £20m
as we want 25m euros I quess there could be some deal. Hope it does not happen as we badly need him .

Reports from Dutch newspaper 'Het Parool' say Liverpool and Ajax did not reach an agreement today. Liverpool is on the plane back and have been told Ajax want 35 mln euro.

Re: Luis Suárez
Ok its only Goal.com but they have just posted that Liverpool would not go beyond 20m euros Ajax said no way and Liverpool officials on the way home . Hope this is correct .Ajax must now say he is not going this month and will stay . They can then possibly sell El Ham and buy a striker who does the same job as Pantelic did last season.

Re: Luis Suárez
This is a disaster for Liverpool, IMO. By being cheap, they are going to lose Torres for sure next year. Apparently, Babel is not going to Hoffenheim now and King Kenny says that Babel "is staying put".
Re: Luis Suárez
well i couldnt care less for liverpool. they won a CL even if their team wasnt as good as ours in 2002-2003... and their reputation was higher than ours even though they dont win anything these years
May the Force be with you
Re: Luis Suárez
They could be following the same path as feyenuts ... even though with more money.
Appie, stay strong !
Re: Luis Suárez
I've seen a fair number of Liverpool matches this season and the problem is not with the quality of the strikers, they have a terrible midfield (even with Stevie Gerrard in the lineup and even he is more of a shadow striker). They just don't have anyone capable of creating opportunities for the strikers. If they did buy Luis-Luis, I'm not sure they would improve their current standing. I can't see how they make it into the CL qualifying spot (4th place) as they are 9 points behind both Chelsea and Tottenham. I suspect the new American owners will quickly tire of throwing money down this sinkhole.cdnajaxfan schreef:This is a disaster for Liverpool, IMO.
