No way Pearce has the skill set or level to play for Ajax. He's been solid in the rear for FCN - sure, but no way near the level needed to play for Ajax.

some folks would totally disagree with you, but id say he would need six months to adapt - he is very confident and learns fast, so if challenged more he could blossom - whether he can reach this level is up to debate, but he certainly plays the AJAX style of LB

for those who dont know, he is very fast with a good cross and aggressive coming up the wing - has 6 US caps, and is considered by some to be the choice to groom for our WC 2010 left back
(Warning: Admission of wrongeful outburst follows.) Ever since the post on Pearce came up, it's been slowly picking away at me that if Pearce had been capped 6 times maybe he wasn't all that bad. Then I remembered that in fact I didnt know Pearce HAD played a game for the US national team. Slowly I realised that maybe I hadnt followed him all that closely after all. Then I remembered that indeed I hadnt followed the Danish league that closely this fall season, because of how busy my new job is. Then I went to work for a week. BUT with Pearce's level still bugging me this weekend, Ive taken the time to google him only to find out that he was voted defensive player of the fall in the best Danish league (!!!) And this is ahead of Copenhagen and Brondby million dollar boys mind you. THEREFORE: sorry bluedaddy, Im afraid that my judgement of Pearce was based on year-old highlight reels. Maybe he is good enough for Ajax these days (turns out I wouldnt know!). At the moment it sure does look like we could use some options at leftback.

We signed Danny Blind's son Daley Blind (17) until 2010. i don't know nothing about him, but van Geel said that he is one of the bigest talents of the club. he is still a B-junior, but he has become a mainstay in the A-juniors this season. also, he plays for Holland U17 team

Andreas Laudrup's elder brother Mads had his top level debut today when he was subbed in for non other than former ajacaid Jesper Grønkjær in Copenhagen's 3-1 snup of Horsens. Grønny scoring two btw.

Looks like the next generation of Laudrup brothers are emerging.

looks like we are very interested in Darijo Srna. Ajax scouts even went to Croatia-Macedonia match to see him playing. he scored great goal in that game.
Srna (24) can play as right back or right midfielder and he is fu*king great at free-kicks. he scores many goals from there. he plays for Donetsk Shachtar now. i think it would be nice to see him in our squad next season. here is short video about his abilities

Sidwell was at Arsenal but never made the first team (he's English !! so not much chance of making it in Arsenal)

He has played well for Reading and is highly sort after.I am sure he will stay in the premiership.

Van Bronckhorst... Ain't gonna happen. He's an f-word man and he would never play for 'the enemy'. His agent said something like this.

Ajax spy on Holmen

Ajax have joined the chase for IF Elfsborg midfielder Samuel Holmen, according to reports in Sweden.

Holmen was linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Rennes in the January transfer window, but negotiations reportedly broke down due to a disagreement over his transfer fee.

He is still keen to leave his native Sweden in order to bolster his international prospects.

And Ajax scout John Steen Olsen watched Holmen in action in the 1-1 draw against Orebro SK on Tuesday.

"Samuel Holmen is a very skilled player," Olsen told Sportbladet.

Gio? No thanks. Urby is also international caliber... not to mention younger and without F-word sympathies.

Jaap Stam? No thanks. We have Vermaelen... not to mention younger and without PSV sympaties ;).

I believe that Gio's signing could be good for us.

Jaap Stam filled a HUGE VOID . Leadership wise and positionally. He was PSV , but I never remember any slagging of Ajax by him or someone representing him.

I simply don't feel we're in the same huge void position at LB. Unless Urby up and leaves. Where would Gio play? I can't see benching Urby.

Ajax favourites for Barcelona kid Krkic

Source: tribalfooball.com - April 27, 2007

Ajax are favourites for Barcelona teen sensation Bojan Krkic.
Barca must find a club for Krkic next season as part of his contract which demands he play for a senior club no lower than the Segunda Liga once he turns 17.

Ajax, thanks to their links with Barca through coach Henk ten Cate, are favourites to snap up Krkic on-loan.

Anybody know anything about this kid?

Orlando Engelaar

No idea who the Barça kid is, but I have some other rumour you might be interested in...

According to Sportweek magazine Ajax are interested in FC Twente's Orlando Engelaar. That would be a very good idea, if you ask me... He's been Twente's superstar in midfield. He's fast, he's physical, he's absolutely enormous (looks like a basketball player) and he can score goals, too. Would be a good midfielder to add to the squad if Sneijder leaves (which he will).

Also: he has worked with HTC before (at NAC Breda) and likes him.

Again: this would not be a bad one... The guy seriously impressed me this season (as did the entire Twente team, for that matter).

What do you guys think of us taking on a young Barca player for their benefit??

He might be magic but will this be of benefit to us??

What is far more important is the news that 3 more young Dutch lads have signed up on full contracts. (I will post details on contracts page.
