But as Ajax will enter the English football competitions in the season 2021/2022 (and then will stay in the Eredivisie with Jong Ajax) Ajax has to build up "double selections" to be ready for this within a few years.

Since we officially need to find a replacement for de Ligt. Cuesta on the brink, meaning Schuurs to go on loan. How about Ajax sign Fosu-Mensah, he is really good, just in a little unlucky. But he would be the best type of replacement.

I am not sure that I would use Fosu-Mensah and good in the same sentence.

If you believe all the rumours circulating since the morning, Quincy Promes is in Amsterdam for his medical today. Price quoted as 20million Euros.

If true, this is going to signal that Ajax is back with the big clubs of Europe. Mind you - I'm talking big clubs and not the mega rich ones like Barca, Madrid, OPECs, Bayern, Juve etc.

it's a done deal i guess. 20 million seems a bit steep but if some teenage wunderkind from benfica costs 130 million, then 20 is a fair price? not excited as when we shelled out this kind of money (slightly less i guess) for tadic...

in other news, we have signed an improved deal with ziggo. 9 million per year with potential of up to 11 based on performance. glad VDS used last year's performance to re-negotiate.

I watched the US-Mexico match last night to see Edson Alavarez play. He was stationed at RB and looked pretty good. It was a very rough and poorly officiated match that Mexico won 1-0. It was amazing that no Yellow cards were issued by the referee. If the transfer fee is €15M that seems fair to me.

Let's welcome him to Ajax already

West Ham and Wolves want him but we are now trying to buy him before de Ligt is sold.

Hagi is joining Genk in Belgium, we were interested but that went cold these few weeks.

Good news and I hope they can move Veltman away. Alvarez can play both in the center and at right back.

It would be a lot smarter to keep Veltman for the benefit of strength in depth, last season Ajax were lucky to have not been plagued by injuries, but that is never guaranteed.

veltman wants to leave and play abroad for a bit which is understandable since he is 27. i also don't think it's a good idea to play him at the cb spot. he's better at rb imo

Alvarez deal now confirmed by Ajax

He's a solid player who can play in the middle, right fullback and defensive MF. I watched the cup final between Mexico and the US and he was playing FB in that match.

I am not sure about Schuurs being slow, or was just that in the last game?

Ajax have just signed 18 year old MF Alex Mendez from Freiburg. He's been an US youth international. I don't know much more than this.
