Where does Oasis get off telling people that other bands sound like shit? If I wanted to listen to the Beatles, I would buy the White Album, not some drunk Mancunian soundalikes.
The sound of the Beatles, the attitude of the Sex Pistols... the talent of Milli Vanilli.

Yeah!
Why the f%ck would I want to read an interview with a couple of wienerknäbersänger (or wahtever they're called).
Rock stars should be rude, obnoxious and most of the time drunk in order to be interesting to read about.
Chris Martin: Free trade your effin reckords to me and I'll might even listen to them! Effin whiner

Sure, to some extent that might be true.Mr. Milton schreef:Who is interested in an image? Images don't have anything to say, they just spit out carefully rehersed oneliners.
I would like to think that the image part has something to do with the persons having the image though. Why did they end up or choose the image in the first place I seriously don't think that the two of them are choir boys at home and just switch over tho "image-mode" in public. To some extent they probably exaggerate and try a bit harder.
An image can say something, the image itself is a position or a stand. As long as the persons behind the image created it it says something.
Take Marilyn Manson. Now that's an image. Does the marilyn Manson image have something to say? In my book, he says alot.

Oasis most definitely cultivate this rockstar image, but their image is like a 'blown up' version of the lads they really are. I love them for the fact that they want to be superstars. There are so many rock singers these days that are so modest and normal. Oasis live their rock & roll dream. Love it.
Over-rated? Yeah, probably. They did two absolutely fantastic albums and wrote a few classic pop songs, but after that their albums started to suck and it turned out that they can do only one thing. They are absolutely irrelevant. But the funny thing is: they can be very arrogant, but at the same time they can also laugh at themselves and shrug their shoulders.
When the previous album came out some journalist started asking all the serious questions that journalists ask: what makes this album different? What's the development? In what way did you 'grow'? Journalists are always looking for changes. Noel answered: "It's just another album full of Oasis music. That's what we do. Twelve new songs. That's all. Not our best songs, it is definitely not our best album, but it's the best album we could have made at this point."
I dig that. Never listened to the album again, but their live shows still kick major arse.

His music's terrible (plain ugly), but I actually respect this guy. You remember when there was this shooting at some school (or a suicide of two kids or something) and the media reported that they were 'inspired by Marilyn Manson'?
He wrote an article for Rolling Stone shortly thereafter about the hypocrisy of that accusation and to what extent rock musicians are an 'example' (rolemodel) to people. Brilliant article. Very intellectual thinking. Very eloquent in his writing.

I was thinking about the same subject, he was interviewed in Bowling for Columbine and made perfect sense and had very sound ideas.
IMO he does have something to say, perhaps one should ask:
"Why is it so shocking the things he does?"
The answer to that is what he's all about is my feeling.

We seem to be a bit far away from the Vak425 Pathtethic Joke Corner now... Fortunately, there's still ZoefdeAss to keep the pathetic side of this post alive ! :D
So, I continue the off-topic thing : I truly hate MM, but I have to admit he is really clever and he really understand the music business... He just does his job to win money, it works, that's good for him. I don't like the way he earns this money, but who can blame him for this ?

The thing is that nothing he does is shocking. It has all been done before. There is absolutely nothing new or shocking about Marilyn Manson. He's just someone that calls himself controversial, or styles himself in that way, so that he can make money. There's nothing thought provoking in that.
Androgeny? How about David Bowie. Nihilism? How about the Sex Pistols. Wailing at "hypocrisy" in government, religion, society, business, etc? How about Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, or any kid with an electric guitar and a garage (I know, I used to be one)? Big deal.
Sure, there are probably a few church groups or something that might be outraged, but most people don't give a shit.
I think the thing that angers him the most is the fact that most people are apathetic towards him.
It reminds me of a quote from the great Calvin and Hobbes comic strip:
Calvin: "You mean mainstream commercial nihilism can't be trusted?"
Mom: "I'm afraid not."
That said, if someone could dig up a link to that Rolling Stone piece, I would love to read it.
