He is injured again. He twisted his ankle in the world cup gualifier against Croatia on friday and won't play in the decesive game for Iceland today. Don't know how serious it is. This is bad news, but it's not like he has been on fire for us lately. We still have De Jong and Hoesen for the striker position and hopefully Bojan is also coming back soon.

He is not leaving and has extended his contract to 2016. At least this means he wont leave on a free but Ajax wont spend money so we cannot get anyone better than him. At present he is fit but maybe with better service he may start to score goals.

I still believe the way we play the game, doesnt suit a proper number 9. That's maybe why we haven't found a proper topscoring striker since 2010. Since De Boer's takeover, number 9's come and go without any result

De laatste minuut van Jong Ajax - NEC is ingegaan en het staat 1-0, als Richaïro Zivkovic de bal verovert en opstoomt richting het doel van de Nijmegenaren. Kevin Conboy is de enige overgebleven verdediger van de uitploeg, terwijl Riechedly Bazoer en Sheraldo Becker met Zivkovic mee zijn naar voren. Dit moet de allesbeslissende 2-0 zijn.

Zivkovic besluit niet af te spelen naar een medespeler en het helemaal zelf te doen. Het duurt allemaal te lang, drie NEC'ers sprinten terug en Zivkovic verliest de bal in de vijandige doelmond. Uit de tegenaanval maakt NEC de 1-1. Daarmee is de wedstrijd afgelopen en heeft Jong Ajax twee punten verspeeld. Als aanvoerder Becker vervolgens Zivkovic tot de orde roept, duldt de miljoenenaankoop geen tegenspraak. Luid vloekend loopt Zivkovic van het veld.

Schorsing en boete
De kortsluiting in het hoofd van de jonge Groninger is dit seizoen al vaker voorgekomen. Op 22 augustus speelde Zivkovic zijn derde officiële wedstrijd voor Jong Ajax en knapte het toen de beloftenploeg in eigen huis werd weggespeeld door FC Volendam. Bij een 0-4 tussenstand werd de Ajax-spits twee keer achter elkaar omspeeld door de uitploeg, waarna hij uit frustratie twee harde schoppen uitdeelde aan een Volendamse buitenspeler. Zivkovic kreeg een rode kaart en werd voor vier wedstrijden geschorst, waarvan één voorwaardelijk.

Sinds Zivkovic terugkeerde van de schorsing, leek het kwartje te zijn gevallen en scoorde hij volop. Afgelopen interlandperiode ging het echter weer mis en stuurde bondscoach Aron Winter hem weg bij Oranje onder 19. De 18 jarige spits nam een lakse houding aan en kwam herhaaldelijk te laat voor trainingen, zo stelde Winter. Toen Zivkovic zich op een avond tot na het opgelegde tijdstip in de hotelbar bevond, was de maat vol en moest hij vertrekken. Ajax gaf Zivkovic er een boete voor, waarvan de opbrengst gaat naar een goed doel dat de speler zelf mag kiezen. Daarmee leek de kous af, maar bij Jong Ajax ging het maandag dus weer mis met de miljoenenaankoop.

Ibrahimovic en Suarez
Zivkovic is duidelijk nog jong en het feit dat hij de controle over zichzelf af en toe verliest, hoeft niet per se een slecht teken te zijn. Het talent heeft laten weten Ajax als tussenstation te zien op weg naar de top. De laatste twee spitsen die via Ajax de absolute wereldtop bereikten, waren Zlatan Ibrahimovic en Luis Suarez. Bij zowel Ibracadabra als El Pistolero zit er af en toe een draadje los. Die twee combineren dat echter met hun weergaloze talent en een ongenaakbaar werkethos. Talent heeft Zivkovic, daar kan geen twijfel over bestaan. Maar een houding dat je de beste bent, is daarbij niet genoeg in het shirt van Ajax. Je moet het ook waarmaken. Dan steekt die frustratie vanzelf niet meer de kop op.

Also, just before this sequence, NEC and Jong Ajax players got into a fight. That woke up NEC according to me.

Yesterday's injury turns out not to be as serious as it looked. FdB says it was a muscular rather than ligament injury and that Sigthorrsson will only be out 2-3 weeks but I suspect he is finished with competition for this year.

Pleased he is not too badly injured. Maybe he has played his last game for us if someone like QPR Hull or Crystal Palace fancy him . He would be better suited to such teams imo and would score a few goals in the premiership putting his weight around.

PS.I want to see Zivkovic come on for the last 10 mins v APOEL and score a goal,with Milik having already scored a hattrick.

Apoel isn't that bad a team. I am afraid that if we aren't on a clinical mood on Wednesday, we could suffer.
