2019-20 Ajax Roster

We have threads for new players and those that are leaving. To keep things in perspective, here is the current roster of Ajax players and I'll be updating it as transfers are announced and final.

Onana and Tagliafico said they are staying another season. Blind and Tadic are not going anywhere. Although I didn't keep Ziyech on the list, I have put him back on as I have not heard about any interest for him even though he was promised a transfer by Overmars. Here is a list by position of the Ajax roster who played at least one match this season, or were on loan. Bande was out injured all season but expected to see first team action. New transfers are in italics. :

GK: Onana, Scherpen, Varela (loan from Benfica extended for one year), van Leer, Kotarski*

Defense: Tagliafico, Blind, Mazraoui, Veltman, Magallan, Schuurs, Perie, Martinez, Alvarez

MF: Schöne, van de Beek, Marin, Eiting, Ekkelenkamp, Gravenberch, Labyad, de Wit, Lang, de Jong (back from loan in Australia)

Forwards: Huntelaar, Dolberg, Traore, Neres, Tadic, Promes, Bande, Ziyech

Jong Ajax players who may be in the mix: Jurien & Quinten Timber, Kuhn, Danilo Pereira, Dest

I assume that van Leer, Kotarski and Lamprou will not be needed now.

V Leer and Lamprou will go.We have Onana and Varela for 1st with Scherpen and Kotarski for Jong .

I'm on holiday on Banff Canada, a place that is just magnificent for the mountains. I totally forgot that Ajax still have de Jong on the roster, no not Frenkie, but our former captain Siem. He is back from his loan spell in Australia. I can't see him with the club this season but did add him to b the training roster. I think the international players should begin coming back over the next several weeks. Neres, Tagliafico, Onana, and Ziyech are c still playing in tournaments. The confederations should all harmonize their competitions. Some of these players have had little time off because of the 2018 WC, league, CL, and now region tournaments!

Sadly, I had to remove de Ligt from the 2019-20 roster as he's headed off to Juventus.

Put Ziyech back on the list, added Alavarez and subtracted Kristensen.

Injury updates -

Veltman - confirmed that it's not cruciate ligament - which is what Veltman had feared. Will be checked again on Friday.

Promes - hamstring injury was diagnosed today after an investigation, and he cannot be deployed in the coming weeks

Babel - has a bruise on the right buttock muscle. The situation is reviewed daily and he is expected to resume group training at the end of the week.

I think we need a new thread just to track injuries this season

Veltman out for 2 months ,having a knee op. Neres and Promes no decision on time out. Babel fit and Ziyech fit for RKC .

Schuurs now going to get a real chance.

I guess this also means that Alvarez will be the first sub in the back line is Schuurs cannot play. Amazingly bad number of injuries this season.
