I'm back after a long hiatus from here. Watching Schreuder's Ajax had killed my spirit.

That's exactly the same thing that happened with me - couldn't stand to watch what was happening. Hopefully we'll be playing a lot better style of football from now on.

It was a dark time indeed.

Schreuder should've been fired right after the Napoli loss. The fact that VDS kept him around as long as he did was so bewildering.

Schreuder was in the running for Leeds job ,but maybe the clueless owners read the Ajax supporters comments and realised he could not appoint the worst Ajax coach in living memory.

A shame in a way as this summer he could buy Bassey,Bergwijn, Sanchez and Wijndal 70m of wasted money.

Michael Reiziger is leaving Ajax after this season. His contract is expiring and he informed management that he wants to move on and be a head coach.

Sorry to hear this - he was one of my most favorite players - there was no one better than him when it came to man marking. Though not as glamorous a player as those he played alongside of (Riijkard, Seedorf, etc.), he was every bit as valuable. Best of luck to him in his future career.

Knutsen and Hjulnad (Danish National Coach) mentioned as replacements for Heitinga.

Bosz did great the first time he was here, but he had his shortcomings also.

Things did not improve with Heits although he had an impossible task following the shambles of Schreuder.

Yeah I read those rumours as well. Well its silly season, so will wait to see who gets announced where.

Apparently we are in talks with Kjetil Knutsen (according to Mike Verweij)

It looks like Sparta trainer, Maurice Steyn will be the next trainer for Ajax. I did not see this coming at all and don't know much about him other than Sparta did well this season. Hedwiges Maduro is likely to be his assistant. We did not know whether ten Hag would do the job when he came in at mid season so I'm willing to wait and see.

Don’t know much about Steijn either.

I’ve seen Maduro doing tactical analysis on TV a few times and he’s always impressed me. Appointing him sounds like a good move to me!

Been reading about the Steijn rumors and truth be told, I have zero idea about him. Not unlike what we thought about ETH back in the day.

Maduro does seem like a smart move. I do see him responding with thoughtful analysis even on Twitter.

Lot of reports in the past few minutes suggesting that Steijn IS our new coach. We have reached agreement with him and also with Sparta.

Like you I know nothing about Steijn but I would rather a Dutch coach than some guy from Norway who knows nothing about Dutch football. Unlike last summer we now have Mislintat in charge of transfers so surely next season can only be better.

At cricket today and with Brighton fans ,who are looking forward to Europa League. Wonderful for them but I said Ajax fans see Europa League as failure . They all hope for Brighton v Ajax

Ajax has confirmed that Maurice Steijn is our new head coach. We apparently have been talking with him for the past 5 weeks. Steijn reported that he's had conversations with Mislintat, Van Der Sar, Huntelaar and Van Halst.

We've apparently reached agreement with Maduro and Almere City. He'll be one of Steijn's assistants.

Ajax just announced Maduro as an Assistant Coach for Steijn.

Heitinga and Ajax have agreed to terminate his contract effective June 30.

Dave Vos is staying as Jong Ajax coach and signed a 2 year deal. Great news as he did a good job taking over from Heitinga and improved Jong .

How does Steijn still have a job? We are in 16th FFS after 6 games.

Think they will be deciding who can take over,no real candidates. Even temporary it would be Dave Vos but then we have to bring in another Jong Ajax coach.

Personally, I think it's doubtful that Guardiola or Klopp could do much better with this motley group of players. The club has been destroyed by the last two summer transfer periods. We'll see what van Gaal has to say and I think he is going to talk to Steijn. We have a team full of square pegs that cannot fill all the round holes. Maybe Man U will sack ten Hag and he will come back to Ajax but that's a long shot.

Being the eternal optimist, I think we will beat Utrecht in two week and run the table in the remaining games, winning the league (caveat --- I am perpetually disappointed in expecting my team to win every match).

Haha. They *have* to beat Utrecht and Volendam but surely they will lose to PSV. You never know I guess.

Personally I don’t care if Steijn stays or goes. The real problem was two disastrous summer transfer windows in a row, where we lost good players and brought in unproven replacements who are totally unsuitable for the type of game Ajax plays.

Maybe another coach could get better results out of these players with a more basic playing style but that would be unpopular too.

By they way I think they will sack him. Just not expecting it to make much difference.

No mention of who could come in.With this shower of players we would need a Klopp or Pep just to get us into 3rd.
