I watched the match and nobody was very good. The passing was poor, especially in the MF and they turned the ball over in their own half frequently. Japanese forward sliced through the defense pretty easily, while the Dutch tried to play too many balls over the top. Unuvar played out on the left wing and was wasted there as he is the only player who has good ball skills. Hansen was a non-factor over on the right wing. Hoever was awful and Ajax has not lost anything by his departure. Taylor was average and didn't help out his central defenders enough. Rensch was quite poor as well. Japan is the Asian U-17 champion and it may be that they are either really good or the Dutch are quite poor.

This was not a good display of Dutch football. I don't know if they will get out of the group as Senegal are supposed to be quite good.

Game was in the early hours over here so I missed it.Clearly a very poor performance by all the Oranje kids.

Unuvar but no Hansen or Taylor

3-1 defeat for U17 .Just USA to play and if they win an outside chance of being one of the best 3rd place sides.

U17 beat USA 4-0 and can still qualify depending on other results today.

Hansen scored 2 but the team should have been called the Ajax academy team . 8 starters are current players,plus
Hoever ex youth and Braaf now Man city was an Ajax youth but left for PSV before going to Man city.Had Brobbey been fit he would have taken Braaf's position. Taabouni of AZ was the odd one out.

I assume Mexico defeats the Solomon Islands. Argentina have to defeat Tajikistan in the other match. If the draw or lose, Dutch are out. They are level with Chile on points but would lose the fair play tiebreaker because of the RC Bogard picked up in the 2nd match.

U17 through to next round ,Nigeria tomorrow night .24 teams started and this is the round of the last 16.

With Nigeria there is always the question of whether their players are over the age for this competition. I think they have been punished in past tournaments for fielding such players.

Dutch u17 beat Nigeria 3-1 last night with 7 Ajax starters and Sonje Hansen scored all 3 . Now to the quarters

U-17s with a sloppy 4-1 win over Paraguay to advance to the semifinals. The lone Paraguay goal came when Rensch made a hash of a ball that was going straight to the keeper and didn't clear it at all. Hansen and Unuvar both scored (Hansen also had one called back) for the Ajax kids. Kenneth Taylor really looked good as the holding MF. If Martinez stays two more years with Ajax I can see Taylor slotting in to that position. Raatsie is solid in goal and let's see how he develops.

Good performance from what is basically an Ajax trained squad.7 Ajax started Hoever recent youth and Braaf and Allouch also from our youth.

This was the first game that was not on at midnight here but it was on Sunday evening and not a good night for me as its always the main tv night. Will try and catch the semi .

Did not know that Braaf was a youth team product. He must have been there only a short time as I think he was with PSV when he signed with ManCity as a 16 year old.

checked on Ajaxtransfermarkt site he left in 2014 age 12 had 4 years in our youth .Allouch left us in 2017 to AZ after a couple of years.

u17 semi tonight at 20.30 v Mexico I will be out so will miss it .Hope the mainly Ajax youth team do the business.

Apart from the main Oranje playing N Ireland and Belarus a brief overview of other Oranje teams this weekend .

U21 play Gibraltar in a Euro qualifier and then England in a friendly with just Schuurs and Scherpen.

U20 play friendlies v France and Czech Rep with Castillo,Ekkelenkamp and Lang

Finally U19 friendlies v Czech Rep and Mexico. Llansana,J Timber,QTimber,Gravenberch,Brobbey.

U-17 match will be carried by FOX cable channel FS2 here in the US.

2 other ints yesterday.U21 beat Gibraltar 6-0 in a Euro qualifer,just Schuurs played . Dani de Wit got a hattrick and Zeefuik,Dilrosun,Redan ,Kluivert all ex Ajax played.

U19 drew 3-3 v Czech in a friendly with 3 out of the 5 Ajax playing. Brobbey was used, shame he was not fit to be with the U17 in the World Cup.

I watched the match and they were poor on the night. They outplayed Mexico in open play but wasted several good chances. Mexico created almost nothing at all and Rensch made a foolish challenge just outside the top of the box that gave Mexico the free kick. Raatsie had the wall well positioned but Bogarde, one of the defenders, didn't jump at all. the shot went right over his head and into the goal. Unuvar played in the MF and really did not look good at all. I wonder if this competition was just a step to high for him. I saw all but one of the matches and was not impressed. I know comparisons should not be made but Nouri was a much better player at the comparable age.

Brobbey was really missed. the team did not have a #9 who was reliable in front of goal.

Of the Ajax youth in the tournament, Taylor and Hansen will be decent prospects. Hansen has good speed, quickness and is good on the ball. Taylor has a very good feel for the game and seems to have good tools for a MF. They had him playing as a DM but with playmaking responsibilities. Similar kind of role that Pirlo played for Italy and Juventus. Raatsie has good reactions for a keeper and was let down by his defense in the early matches. He reacted well in the shoot out yesterday reading all the shots. Rensch made a lot of mistakes through out the tournament. I'm not sure that Salah-Edine is a prospect as he doesn't defend well and seems to be lost at sea during parts of the game. van der Sloot played and was a non factor, getting few touches. Reeger started for the second match in a row. He missed an open shot on goal with a very poor shot. In the previous game against Paraguay he was right center back as Bogarde was suspended.

Thanks for the report Oranje.Brobbey indeed was missed.Taylor and Hansen seem to be the the main names to make it.Unuvar had a poor tournament and maybe too much hype but he like Rensch and Reeger is only 16 and a year younger than the rest.

France for 3rd place so as its 19.00 CET on Sunday may watch some of it.

U17 lost 3-1 to France so a poor end to the WC.Dutch goal came from a lovely pass by Taylor.


Back to the big game yesterday relief Holland got through but a poor game against N Ireland.

Nice easy win v Estonia bit odd Promes seems to have been the right back.

The U21 beat England 2-1 with many ex Ajax playing and Sierhuis and Dilrosun the goals.

Other teams the U19 drew 3-3 with Mexico yesterday and Brobbey scored. U20 lost 4-1 to Czech Rep,Ekkelenkamp the goal ,then lost 2-1 to France.

Seniors play Poland and Italy in Nations Cup. Why on earth has this tin pot trophy not been cancelled!! Promes ,v d Beek and Schuurs in the final squad.

U21 play Belarus away and Norway at home in 2021 euro qualifiers. Gravenberch ,J Timber,Lang Scherpen all in the squad (Eiting ,Ekkelenkamp in the original list and standby)

Main point a squad of 25 contains the 4 Ajax lads plus 9 others who came from our academy.Redan and Dilrosun went to England at 16 but the other 7 all left us over the last 2 years.Nunnely,Doekhi,Zeefuik,Sierhuis,Bakker,Botman,d Wit, and Matusiwa standby.

Having the Nations Cup at present is crazy but at least Holland beat Poland 1-0,Promes played and Schuurs did not.

At least we only have 8 players away on Int duty. 4 at Dutch U21 who beat Belarus 7-0 in a U21 euro qualifier.Gravenberch,Lang started ,J Timber came on as sub.Scherpen did not play.

Only 2 non Dutch are Tadic for Serbia and Kotarski for Croatia U21.

A great win by the seniors v Turkey and a lovely goal by Klaassen .delighted for Rensch to debut.

U21's beat Moldova 3-0 in the opening for the next U21 Euros . Taylor was an unused subs and Raatsie,who replaced the injured Gorter did not make the bench.(6 starters were ex Ajax ie Brobbey,Ekkelenkamp,QTImber and Kasanwirjo all left us this summer.)

U17 won a cup tournament with wins over Norway,Poland and England. Henry,Vos,Agougil and Boerhout the Ajax players.

U18 beat Italy 5-0 in a friendly,Kremers,Anning and Gooijer the Ajax players involved.

U19 lost 3-0 to Italy with Baas,Fitz-Jim and Reeger in action. Big talking point 5 players sent home for breaking covid rules Martha,Hillen and Unuvar of Ajax. Martha and a Feyenoord lad had girls in their rooms and with loud music playing evidently Unuvar and Hillen plus 1 other just went to look but did not enter the rooms. The team coach decided to send all 5 home although Reeger plus one or 2 others were unhappy that Unuvar ,Hillen and Simons(PSG) were sent home.

Rensch got injured at the Jong Oranje game.
