Ajax are down 0-1 as Watford caught Ajax out on a break and Dest handled the ball in the box for a PK. Schuurs looks really good today, calm on the ball and had a rocket of a shot but right at the keeper. Dest has been good other than the hand ball. Kotarski had some problems with passes out from the goal.

1st half lineup: Kotarski; Dest, Blind, Schuurs, Veltman; Marin, Schöne, van de Beek; Promes, Dolberg, Tadic

Ajax get an early goal in the 2nd half from van de Beek and then in the 89th minute Jurien Timber gets the match winner on a good header. Lots of subs in the 2nd half

Defense was decent enough in both halves. Kotarski made a good save when the game was even. Really good passing and ball movement from Ajax.

Thanks for the tip about ESPN3 O14! Saw the game since the 37th minute or so.

Dest looks like a great prospect.

Also, Peter Bosz was in the stands today. Not sure if he was there to scout someone.

Ajax friendly with Panathinaikos will be on ESPN3 tomorrow (Monday) at 1PM, Eastern Daylight Time for those supporters in the US.

1-1 at the half. Ajax were totally dominant from the 20th minute on with almost all the game in the Panithinaikos half. Unfortunately they conceded an early goal when the Panithinaikos striker was poorly marked and had a clear header that was too strong for Varella. van de Beek with the Ajax goal after a good run by Dest delivered a nice cut back pass. Per Schuurs is looking better and better and he just might be the starter in the right side of the central defense.

Got in from a long walk saw the HT score thought I would catch the 2nd half but we are 2-1 down.Think I will give it a miss ,pre season friendlies are all glorified practice matches.

Panathinaikos had two shots on goal and both went in. The game winner came on a free kick that was poorly defended. Varella had no chance on either goal. According to ESPN, Ajax had 67% possession, 13 shots with six of them on frame. they totally outplayed the Greek team in every facet of the game except the score. I'm not sure about Gravenberch who came on with about a half hour left in the match. His touches were poor. Traore looks like the real deal and is super fast for a #9. Lisandro Marinez made his first appearance coming in as Blind moved up to MF. Dest, Schuurs, and Veltman played the full 90 along with Tadic. Other Substitutions were Jensen, Danilo Pereira, and Keneth Taylor.

All the remaining internationals are back in training now.

Not sure I saw our goalie touch the ball in the 40 mins I watched, many chances from us but lacked finishing.Traore indeed looks the real deal.

Schuurs didn't impress me. Very slow duo paired with Blind. Many mistakes in our own half. A better team than Panathinaikos would've scored more. I didn't like what I saw. We seemed bored and without automations....

Saw the entire game. Some observations -
1. Agree with Orange14 - Gravenberch's first touch seems to be worse than Babel.
2. Schuurs is good, but slow. I'm glad we got Alvarez since you can't teach speed.
3. Dolberg was fighting for balls - that's a good sign.
4. Traore looks awesome.
5. We seemed tired and slow throughout the game. Not sure if they had a session in the morning before the game.
6. The ref (Sardar G?) was letting go of a lot of fouls which is normal for him even in the Eredivisie.

Dest looks a good prospect,only 18 but a RB who was playing at LB.Has an American Dad so Orange and Amol will be hoping he breaks through.

Could be we have 2 RB's local born real homegrown lads but neither play for Holland.Mazraoui now Morocco and Dest USA.

Dest has not yet played for the US NT, only the youth teams so he can still switch to the Dutch NT if he wants to.

I did say he could play. He of course can still play for Dutch seniors.

Ajax have a friendly against Turkish side Sivasspor today. Probable lineup: Varela; Tagliafico, Perie, Magallan, Mazraoui; Schöne, Eiting, Ekkelenkamp; Lang, Huntelaar, Labyad

I don't think there were any streams. Huntelaar equalized in the 2nd half for a 1-1 draw. Lineup was as I posted with Jurien Timber coming in for Mazraoui and de Wit on for Tagliafico for the 2nd half.

Friendly today v Jong Utrecht finished 3-3 ,we had a mix of 1st teamers,Jong and U19 ie those not involved in Ints. Varela Schuurs and Labyad all played and Siem de Jong got 60mins .However good news Eiting got 45 mins and so did Bande ,who has been injured for a year. Hope Bande gets fit and shows us why we paid 9m for him.

Friendly today away to Heerenveen and we lost 1-0 .Varela, de Jong, Labyad, Eiting all played ,Bande got 60 mins which is good to read . Alvares at CD and KJH the only 2 regulars used.Jong Ajax and U19 squad players making up the numbers.

Friendly yesterday against Willem II and Ajax wins 6-1. Siem de Jong with a hat trick but better news, Hassane Bande gets game time and scores.

A good work out for those not on Int duty. Bande is only getting fit slowly ,still very few minutes for Jong Ajax,but good to see he scored.

Winter training in Qatar and looks like the TImber twins,Taylor,Hansen and Unuvar are travelling along with Gravenberch,Ekkelenkamp and Traore

What about Carel Eiting?

Shame the club couldn't find a place to have the Winter break with a better human rights record.
