And let me say again that, if nothing else, I'm glad the club is looking beyond Groningen for players.
I haven't read the links, is anyone aware whether or not Marco was consulted on this move?

Yes, he was. His next priority is Sulejmani. Also Douglas (Twente) has been named as our new Stam. Pure defender.

Welcome Dario Cvitanich - I'm pleased I'm typing rather than saying this as not totally sure how to pronounce that.
Good that we've got someone on board anyway and good that our scouting network seems to be functioning better than just our Eredivisie neighbours in Holland.
Signing goalkeepers and defenders is of course a necessity but doesn't have quite the same buzz as signing a new striker

Its quite simple my friend...the V is silent and the C sound like an S....so you can pronounce it like this: See-ta-nick

Being our newcomer of a Croatian origin, I'm pretty sure that the last 2 letters of "CvitaniCH" have to be pronounced softly: like "CHelsea" rather than "Cofee".

Absolutely right. And "V" is not silent. So it must be "Ts-vee-ta-nich"

Cvitanich Upset After Ajax Mix-Up
Argentinean attacker Dario Cvitanich thought he was about to be banished to the reserves after playing a match with Jong Ajax, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding.
Ajax manager Van Basten asked new signing Dario Cvitanich to play a match with the reserves last week in order to regain some match rhythm. However, the Argentinean misinterpreted this and thought he had been banished.
“I opted let him participate in a match with the reserves,” explained Ajax boss Van Basten to De Telegraaf. “However, he reacted totally upset and played a really bad match.
“Initially, I had no idea what the problem was. However, playing in a match with the reserves is, in Argentina, apparently a sign that you’re about to be banished from the first team.
“That’s absolutely not going to happen now and I’m glad that everything is clear again,” concluded the Ajax manager.
Cvitanich signed for Ajax from Banfield this summer, but has been mainly warming the bench since his arrival. However, it looks as though the 24-year-old is slowly adapting to life in The Netherlands. He played the entire second half in the Eredivisie match against Vitesse and was quite impressive.

Yeah, quite funny.
I liked him agains Vitesse. He really added some 'bite' to Ajax's play and he was quite threatening. Also: stronger in the air than I expected!

Today's bad news: an MRI scan at the hospital has made clear that Cvitanich sustained a little tear in his right hamstring. He will be sidelined for the rest of the year, until the January break.

Yeah, not the best news. I was hoping he'd have played more up to this point already as I think he's the most promising to play up front on whichever wing Suarez isn't on. I just hope this is the end of the injuries for awhile.

Another injury. So what else is new? Hopefully, his misfortune will be Javier Martina's opportunity. It would be nice to have a second productive winger.

Pretty well, I think. He set up the first goal, and was active throughout the game. Gave up the ball a little easy at times, but all in all, he looked ok.

Goossens has been playing left back for the last few reserve games so it remains to be seen what position and when he is used for the 1st team.

A 'double yellow' for our man today, which means he will be automatically suspended for one league match. He will, therefore, not be eligible for FC Groningen v Ajax, next Sunday.

Great timing ! At least Groningen doesn't seem to be as in form as earlier in the season.
