30 AUG 2015 Ajax-ADO Match Day 4

Still atop the table and alive in Europe's secondary competition. Ajax are home to ADO this Sunday and the club from the Hague are off to a decent start. This could be one of the home let downs if they are not too careful.

Same 18 as Thursday.Younes still left out so is v d Hoorn and Serero is the only injury.

I saw last weeks game of ADO's. Not all that impressive but they do have some good forwards in Havenaar and Gorre.
The former replaced Kramer, who is now at Feyenoord. Havenaar is just as big and those kind of players can sometimes get the best of Ajax's smallish CB's. And vd Hoorn isn't even on the bench...wtf? The guy has got to be pissed.
To his credit, he never seems to complain....

After the bad start with Dijks injury a nice goal by El Ghazi. I am on sky live today .

Wow, ADO really went to sleep there... that might be the worst bit of defending we see this season.

Feel like we've started a bit more brightly this week. The kids can actually pass quite well when they move the ball quickly.

Best first half of the season. Really nice movement in the midfield to create passing lanes. A bit lucky on the second goal as el Ghazi was off sides on the pass to him. Good reaction save by Cillessen and I wish that Viergever would have slotted the free kick home at the end of the half to really put this one away.

A good first half we seem to be getting forward a lot more but 2-0 up after 20mins that would be expected.Fine save by Cillessen from Havenaar's header,really hope he does not leave us this season.We just need to get a 3rd early to put this game to bed.

Yep it's much nicer to watch when they actually try to move forward quickly. Fingers crossed for another 45 minutes of the same!

Haha, Veltman was only onside because Viergever shoved his man into the 18-yd box! That's teamwork!

Anyway, ADO's defending is atrocious, if they keep this up they're gonna be in relegation trouble...

OK, ADO are bad but we were a whole lot better today. Let's hope we can keep it up after the international break!

A good win and a fine allround performance by us with the ball being moved around and we attacking and going forward.This is the type of football we want to see .

We have now started the season with 4 clean sheets ,the only other Ajax side to do that 1995/96.

A long season ahead but today has put the smile back on the fans faces.

That was one of the best games I've seen the team play in the last 2 years. Could've easily been 5/6 today - don't know how Fisher misses that open header from 10 yards.

So much off the ball movement today to get open and receive the ball. Also quick defending to close down players and situations.

Without a doubt the best match of the season. I thought ADO would offer up more of challenge. Pretty solid on defense with Cillessen only having to make one difficult save. Lots of good activity in the midfield to create passing lanes and some clinical finishing. Don't know how serious the groin injury to Dijks is but Riedewald stepped up and played solidly at LB with Viergever slotting into the middle of the defense on the left side.

Player Ratings:

Cillessen (7.5) - good save on the shot by Havenar and solid the rest of the way to keep his fourth clean sheet in as many league matches
Dijks (NR) - off early with a groin injury
Riedewald (7.5) - transitioned well to fullback and had some very good interventions as well as good passing forward on the attack
Veltman (7) - have to take a half point off for the foolish loss of possession when he was going forward in the first half but otherwise well played game; very nice headed goal off the free kick
Tete (7.5) - shut down all attacking option on his side but needs to take the ball into space on offense when it's offered
Bazoer (7) - much better match than his mid-week meltdown
Gudelj (7.5) - controlled things very well in the midfield and had some very nice free kicks
Klaassen (7.5) - finally had the match he is capable of playing; constant movement in the midfield and very good on the ball
Sinkgraven (6.5) - out of sorts again when he was out on the wing but really had some good play when he dropped back into the midfield for the final part of the match; of course we all know he is not a winger
Milik (7) - didn't get the ball much in the first half to do much but had some really good moments with the ball in the second
el Ghazi (7.5) - sure we can always say he should not take on two defenders but very nicely taken goals both with the left foot
Viergever (7) - very good coming on for an injured Dijks, defended well and though he had a couple of soft entry passes early on came on strong to finish the match
van Rhijn (7) - solid coming in to give our new Dutch International a bit of rest
Fischer (6.5) - should have done better when he had a free header and pressed way to hard to make something happen in his fifteen minute appearance; it would be good to see him get a start to see if he can use a full match to settle in

Off next weekend for the international break and then away to Twente who are having difficulties because of the financial irregularities that forced them to sell players

ADO were crap as usual. I'm concerned about Dijks who I believe is currently our best defender.
