Maybe Lodewijks was feeling a little envious of Franck Grandel's recent penchant for goalkeeping bufoonery. :D

Yeah, that's quite reassuring...

Who was it again that founded that "Yannis must stay club"?

:D
from Ajax-USA :
"Until the 60th minute, in which Danny Blind took a major risk by taking off both of his unbelievably poor strikers (Rosenberg and Babel) and replacing them with Yannis Anastasiou (his first appearance this season!) and former Sparta man Nourdin Boukhari. No world beaters by any means, but the duo added a healthy work ethic and some badly needed determination to the side. Even if we do not blame Markus Rosenberg for wasting his only scoring chance and losing almost every ball he received, it is still quite embarrassing that there was more movement upfron after the arrival of Anastasiou, who is generally deemed slow and a bit static for an Ajax striker..."

as simple as that : when times get rough we can still rely on Anastasiou :xyxthumbs:

and from de Telegraaf : "Anastasiou overtuigt wel als Ajax-spits"
Appie, stay strong !

Forget the bloody substitutions - it was the rain that turned the game for Ajax. We were slow and very ponderous before the rain, played with great fire and movement during the cloud-burst and then when it stopped we went back to sleep. Maybe we should leave the ArenA roof open more often.
The defence looked as rock-solid as usual - each individual didn't have a bad game but as a collective unit they were absolute crap. Thank goodness Vonk had a great day at the office.

BTW Edgar was my Ajax MOM.

Yeah, Manu Chao was my man as well, followed by Vonk and Urby (who was good offensively, but had his usual bad moment in defense: Obodai beat him far too easily for Sparta's goal). To be honest I'd hardly noticed that De Jong was even there until he scored, but his goals were well taken.

BTW a small but interesting factoid:-

This win by Ajax was the first point dropped by Sparta, F-Word light and F-Word in Rotterdam so far this season. :headbang:

That one gave me a laugh... I think he played better as the shadow striker than on the wing, when we aded real wingers on the flanks the game turned around, both Pienaar and De Jong were poor in midfield but Pienaar did wonders on the right flank(the second asist was world class) while Nigel played the role a typical striker play's, nonexistant for most off the game and then BANG!!!! Two goals out of nowhere. My man of the match was Grygera, solid as a rock, all of Spartas atacks came from our left flank, the right side was never in danger. Babel on the right, just does not work and Rosenberg.... man he was just lost on the field .

Hurray for Yannis :cheer: i had a feeling he would have a good game ;)
BRING IT ON !!!!...
