Let us not panic. And be sensible. We should win this one. Because we are Ajax and they are Thun. As simple as that. :ajax:
If supporters are scared of Thun, what will it be for P$V and likes ?
This is crazy. Please behave. :outtahere:
My guess is that we will win this one by 4-1 with at least 1 goal from Anastasiou. :anim-jjd:

what about juanfran?
what about heitinga?
is babel on a poor form 'cause he wants to play CF?
why never a de jong-maduro-snejider midfield?

In Yannis and Maurito Rosales I trust

(vonk; vermaelen, heitinga; lindenbergh, boukhari; babel, rosenberg)

the desaparecidos once again are escude and juanfran, I am really worried for babel, but I think it's good the choice of de jong in midifeld.

I always have high hopes with Maduro. Wish Babel played @9 though. Midfield looks OK. Let's hope for a bit of luck and a clear win. Cheers! :alc:

Gladly Eating my owrds.

Bericht door cdnajaxfan » di okt 18, 2005 9:22 pm

OK, I am eating my words gladly that Thun would beat us because FINALLY Blind woke up and used Anastasiou like I said he should have a long time ago. Charisteas was on target before he got injured as well, just like I said he would be. I said that the "Greek Conection" was the one to use and that Rosenberg needed time with the reserves and that Babel is almost useless! Here is the proof!

And for the record, I could basically Guarantee that if we used Babel or Rosenberg up front, we would lose or have a scoreless draw with Thun!

There is hope afterall, maybe Blind read my posts or something?!

Man, I already hear the bullshit comments about how Anastasiou is great, he player that we need, how he could have saved our ass the last two seasons if he had been on the pitch more often and so on.....

Let's just say that we're all very happy to have avoided another deception.

Turning Point?

Bericht door cdnajaxfan » di okt 18, 2005 10:23 pm

This could be the turning point. That is a big confidence boost. Yesterday, all was but lost but we could still place second. We just need to beat Thun again and beat Sparta at home and we would probably be through.

My faith has been restored! Thank you Yannis!

Fantastic salve after the most depressing loss by my hometown baseball team, the Houston Astros, last night. I'm still depressed about that; but not as much as I used to be.

My 0.02$ : If Arsenal beat Prague on the next match day and we beat Thun, we'll be through BECAUSE Thun would need to win their last two games to leapfrog us and hope that we lose twice which I don't think will happen. Prague would be already eliminated in that scenario and Arsenal qualified (and thus less motivated, even if they'll probably give their best shot to get #1 spot).

So let's win the next one and we're through because I know Arsenal crash Prague (Praag, Praha or whatever name you want to give them).

KOM OP AJAX. FIER EN KOEN ALTIJD !!!

I guess that if that happened that Prague could only get 6 points, but Thun could theoretically get 9 points total still. We have 4 now, and that would give us 7 so maybe even 2 draws after and we could get through on 9 if our goal difference (whatever measure(s) they use) is better?

A victory in Thun will see us through because let's be honest :

1) A victory against Thun means that they need two victories in their last two games.

2) Thun will not get 6 points from their last two games. Why ?
Because they receive Arsenal on matchday 5. Arsenal will probably have 9 pts then and they'll want to secure the #1 spot before receiving Ajax.
They then go to Praha for the last game. Tough fixture for such a little club :)

We will then be seeded against one the qualified teams. and then everything can happen. A group of very young players with some talent that want to prove something on the European stage and get big contracts in big fancy clubs. They'll give their best if we get through the group stage (and I don't doubt we will) and that can be a big opportunity. Remember that the teams that won the Champions League the last two seasons are the richest and biggest clubs. But Porto and Liverpool.

ALLEZ !!!

Arsenal already have 9 points. They'll probably have 12 by then.
