Ajax host Sporting on Tuesday in the final group stage match. Both teams are through to the knockout rounds as the first and second place teams. I wonder if there will be squad rotation since this is not a meaningful match for Ajax and they have a busy fixture schedule for the remainder of the month. I likely won't be watching the game as we have lot of things on tap for Tuesday as we are finishing plans for a move later this month to a nearby condominium. I'll try to catch the replay Tuesday night.

Sporting are through, barring a one sided defeat to Ajax by e.g. 7-0 and Dortmund winning by 5-0

Sporting are through anyway, because of their head-to-head results against BVB.

I'm hoping Ajax are motivated to win. There's the prospect of a 100% record in the group and also the coefficient shootout between NL and Portugal for the extra CL ticket.

Tadic may sit out the match with a sore back from the league match on artificial turf. EtH said that there would be player rotation in the match today.

Same here. Cannot watch the game because paramount+ are incapable of doing anything right. Even the Real vs Inter game had actually the Liverpool game showing.

I have an IPTV subscription but need to know the country and network the match is on. ESPN NL don't carry CL games. Anyone know what network in the UK carry the games or The Netherlands?

Even the Sporting fans in the US are pissed!!!

2 mistakes led to our goals although lovely quality by Antony.Schuurs did not mark their scorer and indeed had he been awake should have put him offside.

Ajax seem to be in control but Sporting have threatened a couple of times.

Their goal came after Schuurs didn’t step up quickly enough and played the Sporting player onside.

Ajax’s second was after Sporting gave the ball away in their own box trying to play through the press. Antony intercepted the ball, faked a couple of times and finished it off.

I’m watching on IPTV on RTL 7. It’s also on Ziggo Voetbal (both in the Netherlands group of channels)

I just sent a complaint in to Paramount+ though I don't expect much out of it. Maybe they will have the replay later today. I have a meeting in a couple of minutes anyway.

Very comfortable in the end ,again should have picked up the goalscorer but it was a great shot.First competitive game we have let in 2 goals ie 15 league and 6 xCL.Have to say not impressed by Schuurs as standby in CL.

Caught the 2nd half and Ajax looked good. Nice goals. Somebody missed marking the Sporting player on the second goal.

first time since the mid-90s that we win the CL group. great performance that I hope continues into the knockout rounds. draw is next monday. we also made already more than 70 million in this cl campaign and the six victories had a big impact with around 17 million just for those. Just hope nous is ok and eth made some good subs to rest the team. also in the news, overmars signed an extension to 2026

I just finished watching the full replay. Ajax played quite well against a Sporting team that made a lot of substitutions and had some very young players on the pitch. Ajax passing was solid in the first half with a lot of quickness. Ajax conceded two goals for the first time since the Cruyff Shield match against PSV that opened the official season. It was difficult to figure out who was at fault on the second Sporting goal which was a great strike but one of the MFs should have been even with him. This was the first CL match Tadic did not play in since he came over several years ago.

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (6.5) - OK match and really had not chance on either goal
Blind (6.5) - decent in the half he played
Martinez (7.5) - another classic example of great defending
Schuurs (6) - was not aware of the danger behind him on the first Sporting goal and then had a sloppy tackle that resulted in a YC
Mazraoui (7) - another solid game
Alvarez (7) - bossed the MF again today but the YC was really weird as he hardly touched the Sporting player
Gravenberch (7.5) - had one of his best games of the season for me
Berghuis (7) - rock solid and took his goal nicely
Neres (7) - very nice game and rewarded by a goal just before coming off
Haller (7) - cool on the PK and his ball handling was very good
Antony (7.5) - really unstoppable if he gets the ball in space
Tagliafico (6.5) - good game in the 2nd half
Klaassen (6) - couple of poor plays on defense but worked hard as always
Rensch (5.5) - decent coming on late as a central defender and then moving to RB
Timber (NR) - on late when Mazraoui had to come off

Home to AZ on Sunday which should be a cracker of a match but Ajax should be well rested as AZ have a Thursday Euro match
