Winless in their last three outings, Ajax host Napoli in the Champions League this Tuesday. Ajax better figure out how to score goals if they wan to over winter in Europe. I don't know what starting lineup Schreuder plans to put out against Napoli who are a high pressing team, exactly the kind that causes problems for Ajax. Maybe the club will surprise us.

Because of Yom Kippur, I won't be watching the game until Wednesday night and will try to stay away from news sources that carry the result.

Berghuis,Alvarez ,Bergwijn and Kudus all back as starters.

Yeah it’s an open game because Ajax is tactically very poor.

it’s a complete mess on the wings, Napoli easily beating both rensch and blind. Napoli should have scored 3 goals already

I was not only talking about this game. I think the downfall has begun also domestically.

Blind too slow for the 1st and Pasveer went the wrong way for the 3rd.Tadic has done nothing and I am not a aware Alvarez is playing.Since failing to sell him a month ago he has done little.We are going backwards.Sold Antony ,no replacement and Bassey is not in the same class as Martinez and whilst I am at it I dont rate Rensch.

and tadic gets the second yellow for a dumb foul and gets whistled off the field by the crowd. at least now he can’t play in the next match

Going to be interesting. Will schreuder sit on the bench against Volendam? The end result against Napoli is beyond embarrassing.

Worst game by Ajax that I've seen in my lifetime. Only positive is that they had a brief lead on a ricochet goal. they were outplayed in every single facet of the game and I'm coming to the conclusion that Schreuder may be in over his head. Of course he was dealt a bad hand with the lost of key starters from last season and the decaying qualities of Blind and Tadic. I would have rather seen some Jong Ajax players out there working hard than this group. Pasveer did a lot of kicking but did Ajax even win a single ball as a result??

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (5) - made a couple of good saves to give him an average score on the night
Rensch (4) - had two nice interventions but otherwise was not all that good
Timber (4) - out jumped on a corner kick and caught up field twice leading to counters
Bassey (4) - worked hard all night long but he is really not a special player and perhaps a waste of money
Blind (2) - time to retire as he's just too slow to defend and even his passing was not all that good
Alvarez (3.5) - always worked hard but useless in the MF today
Taylor (5) - maybe the best player out there today
Berghuis (4) - had no impact
Tadic (2) - awful game
Kudus (3) -got credit for a goal he did not deserve and was pretty bad otherwise
Bergwijn (5) - second to Taylor, tracked back well but when everyone else is awful, not much he could do
Klaassen (NR)
Brobbey (NR)
Grillitch (NR)
Baas (NR) - why oh why did he not come on for Blind earlier in the game?????

Team will be very lucky to end up in the Europa League which they really do not deserve!

Off to synagogue in 30 minutes and will catch up with everyone on Thursday.

Utter rubbish by Ajax,worst performance I have ever seen by them in my lifetime. Only worse defeat was 9-4 by Feyenoord back in the 1960's.

Tadic has been poor this season and should have been subbed off but the coach wont do it.At least he wont play next week.

A serious issue for me is that having lost a few good players in the summer we do not have a good enough squad.Occampos ,Grillitsch not good enough and Wijndal did not come on today but Baas a LB comes on for a RB.
We now have to avoid defeat in Glasgow to hope that we qualify for the Europa league in the new year.We will lose in Naples and will be lucky to avoid defeat by an out of form Liverpool.

Easily outclassed by Liverpool and Napoli. It’s clear that Ajax’s time in the European sub top is over again. The older generation in the squad is now too old and the younger generation is not good enough.

We have to hope they can beat Rangers to third place and do something in the Europa league.

It would be nice to have an excuse I guess, but the squad is the issue IMO.

No MF who can pass, fullbacks can’t defend, etc. With this team I reckon Ajax will still be competitive in the eredivisie, but not in Europe.

Reading most of the articles on Ajax showtime and just about every fan wants the coach out . They dont rate the guy as good enough .The 2 players singled out for criticism are Tadic who has been ineffective on the right and Blind in top games is too slow at LB . 1st goal yesterday their scorer got behind Blind and at Liverpool Blind was too slow and left Salah unmarked to score.

Orange mentions Young Ajax players getting a chance.Best player last season Unuvar is now in Turkey and he should have been used as sub this season. Fitz-Jim has a hugh talent and should be played as sub v GAE and Volendam and lesser games like this.
Salah-Eddine was rated better than Baas but we let him out on loan and bring in Wijndal who has been injured and not picked when fit.

The Board and Finance Director made a great decision in not buying Occampos. He is not good enough and is getting little playing time .
