09 Apr 2006: Ajax - AZ
This game marks the start of Ajax USA's Rendezvous in Amsterdam 2006!
It is also an extremely important game. We really have a lot to lose in the last weeks of the Eredivisie...

I thought you didn't want to play in the play-offs, Ko?Kowalczyk schreef: It is also an extremely important game. We really have a lot to lose in the last weeks of the Eredivisie...

The post you're quoting was written before the Roda game, mate. After that, I announced that the Roda game was 'D-Day' for me, as in: "If we lose that one (to the Eredivisie's #12!) I will 'officially' hope that we won't make it to the play-offs."Jesse schreef:I thought you didn't want to play in the play-offs, Ko?
I have now more or less reached that point, but when I started this thread it wasn't the case yet.

We're looking at a possible return of Wesley Sneijder this weekend. Danny Blind stated in his friday press conference that he might start him on the bench against AZ. But also that he still had to make the decision. Ah well, if not this week then next week I guess. Good news as far as I'm concerned!

A 1-1 draw at home against Feyenoord would normally be a result Heerenveen could live with, but in this case it was a bad result for them. They are falling behind a little bit. It seems like the race for the 5th slot now goes between Ajax and Groningen.
Will Groningen pull it off at PSV tomorrow? I don't expect it, to be honest, so I think we will still be 5th on Monday, even if we lose to AZ (which I think we will).
In the last two games we play Vitesse (home) and RKC (away). Groningen have Utrecht (home) and Twente (away). Seems like their schedule is a bit tougher.

Expected line-up (according to Ajax Netwerk):
--------------------------- Stekelenburg --------------------------------
Trabelsi --------- Heitinga -------- Vermaelen -------- Lindenbergh --
(or Boakye)
--- Galásek --------------- Maduro ------------------- Boukhari ------
--- Babel ----------------- Huntelaar ---------------- Rosenberg -----
The only 'question mark' is Hatem Trabelsi, who is slightly injured, but might be ready for action. If not, Emmanuel Boakye will take his place. Johnny Heitinga is match fit and generally expected to return to action. Wesley Sneijder is almost there, too. Blind said on Friday that he might start on the bench and get some minutes. He won't start, though.
Surprising: according to Ajax Netwerk Rosales will lose his spot to Babel (right winger...?)

What if PSV loses on purpose just so that Groningen can get the 3 points...???Kowalczyk schreef:A 1-1 draw at home against Feyenoord would normally be a result Heerenveen could live with, but in this case it was a bad result for them. If I was PSV, that'd be tempting.

No, man. They want to clinch the title in a home game. For sure. They want to lift it at their own stadium and march straight to the town hall for the ceremonial shield presentation. They will definitely not f*ck up on purpose.carcajou schreef:What if PSV loses on purpose just so that Groningen can get the 3 points...???

Dont worry mate just three more games to go  ( maybe 6 ;) ).Over Pasanens Head schreef:Not Boukhari again - haven't I been put through enough suffering this season? :rocketwhore:
Good to see Heitinga back, as crazy as it may sound i'd rather have him in defence than Maduro. Sneijder return will be a big boost too.
I'll be satisfied with a draw but hope we can get a way with a 3-1 victory :xyxthumbs: .
I think ESPN will show this one, if they dont i'll freak out.
Hope i can catch a glimpse off you guy's in the stands
