Injured: Stam.
Suspended: The Urb.

Expected line-up according to the press:

------------------------- Stekelenburg ----------------------------

Ogararu ---------- Heitinga ------ Grygera ------ Vermaelen ---

Gabri -------------- Maduro ------- Sneijder ---------- Roger ---

--------------- Rosales -----------------Huntelaar ---------------

So Perez is likely to be left out.

It has been a bad month, and I doubt it will get better today, I have a bad feeling.

Strange that Rosales is preferred over Rosenberg in this formation, no? I would have thought that this is right up Rosenberg's alley. And Rosales has been terrible lately.

Rosales would have also started, according to the press, against Prague. Didn't happen that time, the other Rose played back then. Could see it happening again tonight. Although I rather see the 'racist' playing upfront. Kenneth can create more.

0-1 when we play 4-4-2 we get screwed :nooo:

nice , Jinne ;)

I agree with you aveslacker. Play 4-4-3 or a 4-4-2 with two real strikers! 4-4-2 should fit Markus Rosenberg very well, and I can't really understand why Ten Cate prefers Rosales. Let's do some good things in the second half! :bis:

Rosales

I watched AZ's game last night and Julien Jenner was outstanding on the right wing. Why we didn't sign the guy is a complete mystery to me.

Now that was a result I really didn't see coming.

Absolute zero invention from midfield and the wings again

And the irony is... We almost certainly 'qualified' for the next round this evening. Ajax are third, Sparta Prague also have four points but have already played all of their games and Austria Vienna are gone. Even if we lose 3-0 in Belgium we will still finish third in the group...

But man - what a shit game it was. Absolutely amazing. What happened to this team? They looked so good in the first months of the season...

Some things have happened over the last month that have coincided with the drop in quality:-

The first one is that Gabri started off like a house on fire and now it looks like the fire brigade have come along and totally put him out. He is the man like Galasek that makes this team tick and just like when Galasek was off colour the team really just doesn't function at all.

The second one is a strange one in that I have never been a great fan of Ryan Babel, but since he has been out, the team just haven't functioned at all - a coincidence? I really don't know.

The third part that is wrong with the team is on the wings - but this has been the case all season and as such is nothing new.

Fourth one is about confidence - this has always been fragile this season and now it is completely gone. This then inhabits anybody trying to inject flair into the game and then all that is left is the downward spiral. In the days of Chivu, Zlatan and his royal highness v d Vaart there were numerous crap games as well but you could always rely on a flash of individual brilliance from one of these 3 to get us out of the s**t. Who is there now that can carry on this role - simple answer is that we haven't got anyone.

Still we move on to Sunday and a chance to turn the corner.

But Philippe you haven't answered Ko's question, or do I read between the lines and just assume that you still think that Danny Blind should still be manager and that Ten Cate should be sent back to Barca.

I just don't think the team has proved much since the beginning of the season, results are sadly there, so there is no point in dreaming of golden past days that never were,

you can be sarcastic, but there is nothing to be happy about

I'm with Ko on this one.
20 augustus 2006 - Ajax 5-0 RKC Waalwijk
27 augustus 2006 - NAC Breda 1-2 Ajax
10 september 2006 - Ajax 3-0 Vitesse

17 september 2006 - Roda JC 2-0 Ajax
24 september 2006 - Ajax 2-0 NEC
1 oktober 2006 - FC Utrecht 2-3 Ajax
14 oktober 2006 - Ajax 3-2 FC Groningen
22 oktober 2006 - Feyenoord 0-4 Ajax
25 oktober 2006 - Ajax 2-0 ADO Den Haag
What more do you want from the first games of the season? It all looked like smooth sailing until PSV came along, and even that wasn't a terrible game for our side, just a poor result. But from then on...

Philippe, I wasn't being sarcastic at all - I was attempting to get you to answer Ko's question, which you still haven't.

Lets then try a different tack and ask you what would you do to turn the season around?
