04 Mar 2007: Ajax - SC Heerenveen

The first league game in March and also the last home game before the road trips to FC Twente and PSV.

Ajax vs Heerenveen... a game between two good sides, who - however - were both hoping for a little bit more this season.

Heerenveen without Afonso, right? This one shouldn't be too hard. :eusa_pray:

:headbang: :headbang:

Looking forward to the game! It'll be nice to be "back" to watch some good football, as long as they show the same passion as last week!

We're now 3rd after Twente, and PSV beat RKC 2-0 :pukey:

Yups, this one must be won.

Should be possible. Heerenveeen away is normally a very tough one. Heerenveen at home much less so. They're without Alves and we have to beat them.

0:1 heerenveen. KJH has had 3 decent chances to score but has failed with every attempt - very disappointing.

HT: 0:1

just to rub it in - first half stats:

possesion 62% to 38%

shots on target 7 to 1

total shots at goal 13 to 4

corners 5 to 1

Ajax in complete control - except they are losing

Whats going on with Leonardo? It looks like hes in bad pain.

looks like Leonardo has sustained a very serious knee injury, he was crying like baby when being stretchered from the field.

Almost 0:2 ... Heerenveen strike the underside of the ajax bar.

Another useless performance :pukey: .

Fourth place for a fourth rate team.

Ajax played decently but couldn't score. Shame. But whatever, this game was simply for a guaranteed spot in the play offs.

Looking at Leo's injury I'm guessing he'll be out for awhile. :nooo:

First half was decent - bar the misses - second half was complete shit.

Yeah, Leo looks as if he is well and truly fucked. Probably torn his cruciate ligaments.

edit: forgot to say that Stam got caught out for the Heerenveen goal. Stam neglected to cover Nilsson who was positioned outside his right shoulder and chose instead to focus on the man in possesion, Gonzalo. Gonzalo was given the easy option of slipping the ball through to the unmarked Nilsson: bingo - goal Heerenveen.

Seeing a loudly crying Leonardo being stretchered off was one of the most painful things I've ever seen in football.

It should be noted that HTC did not have the summer months to prepare his team for this season. With a full summer of preperation we should see a marked improvement in Ajax in the first half of next season - If not: cheerio HTC.

I think Ten Cate has done well all things considered.

Yeah, that would pretty much be my summary of this game.

I have to admit: this one doesn't really hurt. Something changed 'inside me' after the Excelsior home game. It was that game that pretty much marks the end of the season for me. If the players don't even care about the title, then why should we?

This one... Oh well. I didn't really feel anything when the ref blew the final whistle...

For the second year running we are thankful for the playoffs. On present form we wont make second place but might still do a repeat of last season and win the playoffs. Big difference though is that KJH is not scoring goals.

PS Just reading your comments about Leonardo is painful. Poor guy. I hope he makes arecovery as that is one of the worst injuries.

Excelsior: 2-2
AZ: 1-1
Heerenveen: 0-1

Next up: Twente away and PSV away...

Smells like a series of five league games without a win. We never win in Eindhoven, but for some reason I have a feeling that next weekend is going to be worse. I think Twente will seriously fuck us up, or is that just me?

Oh well, I'll go anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised that Ajax win both games.... There is no pressure anymore and Ajax never lost yet with Davids.

That said, I must say I'm not overly confident...
