Could have been a very big game... Now it's 'only' an away game to the reigning and soon-to-be champions of The Netherlands. It's been twelve years since our last win in Eindhoven and I don't expect much this time...

Yep. That's correct.bryan schreef:a couple slip ups less and the title would be there for the taking
The stupid thing is. Our best games were the games against the better opponents, plus a few games that are traditionally tough: Feyenoord (twice), Heerenveen away, Utrecht away, Groningen (twice), Twente away and AZ away (despite the late equalizer). Even PSV at home was quite good, although we lost it on a single goal.
We f*cked it up in away games at Sparta Rotterdam and Vitesse away 0-2 up; 4-2 defeat) and in home games against Excelsior and Heerenveen. It was Excelsior's first point in 11 games and Heerenveen's first win in four games, if I remember it correctly.
This is very frustrating.

still, it's not over yet. a win in eindhoven and the gap is down to five points. and with the way psv is stuttering the past month or two, even with alex, anything is possible. the only problem is that ajax is stuttering too.
i remember koeman won his last title at ajax this way too, we kept fucking up but everybody else did too.

Im afraid thats rather selective...I'm afraid that's rather questionable :
Roda JC-Ajax 2-0
Ajax-PSV 0-1
Ajax-FC Twente 1-1
Ajax-AZ 2-2
Ajax-SC Heerenveen 0-1
(Not to mention our European games ! )
If you choose to name the matches against Heerenveen, Twente, and Roda, you might as well mention the returns we played against them; we won all three, namely. Besides you forgot to list feyenoord, who we thrashed twice.
In any case I find your list way too statistical, as you are looking utterly at numbers and figures. Against psv we were unquestionably the better team, just to show you one example...

I did not mention AZ away ;)Mr. Ajax schreef: Im afraid thats rather selective...
We dropped eleven points in those five games against top of the table sides.
And our European games should be enough not to say that we did well against strong opponents.
Still I hope and believe that this unfortunate series will end in Eindhoven :yelclap:
Appie, stay strong !
Swap over Heerenveen for Feyenoord and PSV have dropped just as many points against top opposition .philippe schreef:I did not mention AZ away ;)Mr. Ajax schreef: Im afraid thats rather selective...

I dod not say that we never played shit games against quality opposition. What I said is that our best performances were almost exclusively in games (in many cases away games) against some of the Eredivisie's better teams.philippe schreef:I'm afraid that's rather questionable :Kowalczyk schreef: Our best games were the games against the better opponents

By the way: I thought that PSV have an easier schedule from now on, but that appears to be untrue.
PSV
Ajax (h)
NAC (a)
NEC (a)
Twente (h)
Utrecht (a)
Vitesse (h)
Ajax
PSV (a)
Heracles (h)
RKC (a)
NAC (h)
Sparta (h)
Willem II (a)
PSV's schedule is actually much tougher - and I'm not even talking about the two Liverpool games in between! NAC away, Twente at home, Utrecht away...

Those teams are normally tricky opposition in the decisive weeks of the league. But: Sparta and Willem II will easily be 'safe' by the time we play them.Thomas schreef:I honestly don’t like the fact that we could be facing 4 teams that are struggling against relegation in our last 6 games.
