Could it be that we're heading into another shitty year?

Yes. I like Heitinga but it’s a big downgrade from Farioli.

It all depends on the squad, which is currently bad and seems likely to get worse over summer.

So looks like either we didn't have plans to replace Farioli OR that coaches are hesitant to sign up for Ajax right now. ETH would've struggled with a limited squad and probably didn't want to take such a big career risk. Reiziger would've still been an unknown and I'm not sure how well he would've done with a weak squad.

Heitinga + Keizer + Vos might at least give the youth a chance. It's going to be an interesting summer as an Ajax fan.

I don't know if they're making a push for Knutsen. All we know is from rumours from the press. Who knows what's really happening.

I wonder if Farioli made a big mistake by jumping ship after only one season AND with the black mark that he lost the championship with what should have been a cakewalk. I'm not sure any big club will take a chance with him right now and he might have to take a lesser position. He threw away a chance for CL football and the possibility of molding the club into something better. I'm unsure whether any of the players rumored to transfer will want to give up on CL football so quickly as they are not going to land on a club that is in that position. AC Milan finished mid table and now is going to lose some players because they failed to qualify for any Euro football. Who wants to play at Newcastle? Big paydays will only come in England, Real Madrid, Bayern, or PSG. Barcelona still have money problems and an established roster. 'If' Hato, Sutalo, and the others stay on maybe something good can happen. Even Henderson can stick around for another year if he wants. I don't think he wants to transfer to Sunderland. :biggrin.gif:

At least with Heitinga, Keizer, & Vos we have Ajax thinking within the coaching staff. It's up to Kroes to clear out as much of the dead wood that he can. If Brobbey and Weghorst stay, they don't need Akpom and he might have some value in England (maybe Wrexham purchase him!!!). The others probably won't have any suitors and one can hope that some clubs will take them on loan.

Agree with Orange14 - Farioli jumped ship too early. Had the chance to make a name for himself and get CL experience.

Agree with Orange above regards Farioli. Having given away the title and then walking away because next season will be tougher is not going to get him a bigger club.He also has had 4 clubs in 4 years and is a club hopper.

Looks like Heitinga coming in as manager with Keizer his principal assistant. Announcement to be made today. Only thing left to resolve is the agreement with Liverpool. At least this brings back an Ajax pedigree!

New rumours of Sneijder being involved as a coach. I think this is a terrible idea and truly hope that Kroes and Co haven't lost their minds.

I don't think he has gone through the license process, nor has he had any background. Doubt this is true, but who really knows?

Bayer just sacked ETH. They pretty much sold their entire squad and are making him a scapegoat.

Kroes would be wise in bringing him back to Ajax ASAP.

I think ten Hag's success at Ajax was more a result of the players rather than his managerial talents. He had unlimited funds at ManU and could not get the job done. Someone at Leverkusen screwed up by hiring him and that person should take the fall as well. I'm not sure hiring ten Hag solves any problems. I honestly think Maurice Steijn could have turned out OK had it not been for all the Mislintat drama.

I 100% agree and will be the first to call out ETH’s shortcomings. But, I’m not very sure what Keizinga are up to. So my hope is that ETH with all his flaws will still come out ahead of Keizinga.

Heitinga, Keizer and Peerbom were all dismissed. Fred Grim will be interim manager and Urby Emanuelson will stay on. Kroes offered to resign but the Supervisory Board wants him to stay to preserve some continuity. He has had conversations with ten Hag but it's not clear whether the former coach will return to Ajax.

Wonderful news this clueless coach and his assistants have gone.No problem with ETH returning but it will be different this time.He needs a TD who knows football and has done a good job elsewhere . Kroes is going but I hope he is not still here in January I dont want him involved in transfers.

I see Liverpool are wondering what will happen with Jaros and Mc Connell , return them in January .

Not saying I wanted Heitinga to stay but why fire him and keep the people who were supposed to build the squad?

Anyway I’m not expecting a new coach to change much unless they get lucky with another Farioli.

Goodbye and good riddance to Heitinga, Keizer and Peereboom

There's still enough quality in the squad that we shouldn't be blown apart every week. Heitinga and Keizer just couldn't make anything work. They were super lucky that we had easy games at the beginning of the season.

Put Itakura at DM and play with Gloukh and Taylor/Fitz-Jim in front of him. Or play 3 in the back with Baas - Itakura - Sutalo. Do something. Heitinga refused to accept any fault with his team choices or tactics. I won't miss him.

Yes, I would prefer a coach who has never heard of Ajax and just comes up with a setup that works with the players we have. Not likely with the current management.

Ajax talking to Simonis who just got sacked at Wolfsburg .He has had one season at GAE and this does not qualify him to take on Ajax.We need an experienced quality coach. Does sound as if ETH doesn't want the job and suitable foreigners are not going to be available until the summer

They are in a difficult place right now. I think they were talking with Simonis before he took the Wolfsburg job and he was not interested. I agree that any manager who is currently with a club won't jump ship in the middle of the season, though Slot did take the Feyenoord job will still at AZ as I recall and AZ sacked him during the season because of this (I think I remember this correctly). I don't know enough about Simonis to pass judgement. Personally, I think they should stick with Grim and help him out by bringing in an assistant with Ajax ties assuming any of them would want to help out.

I wouldn't mind Ajax bringing in Brian Priske, the former feyenoord coach. He had both good and not so good results with them. But there was some promise. That said, we may have to settle for Simonis which is hit or miss. The key is, can he bring the best out of players the same way Farioli did?

Re: Ajax Coaches

ETH has said no . He would have said yes had Kroes stayed but basically he would want to know who the new TD will be and I am sure any decent coach will feel the same.

I think some nondescript Dutch guy like Simonis will get the job and nothing will improve . Someone on Showtime , with some inside info, says ETH wanted to reorganise the squad and bring in 5 or 6 new players, which sounds a fair comment. A new goalie, a no 6 and 2 decent fullbacks thats for starters .

If a club goes through more than one manager per year, do we really think the manager is the issue?

I don’t see how it matters who the next one is…

If we can't get anyone good now, then my vote is to keep Grim till the winter break and get him Bogarde as an assistant. Assuming that Bogarde would want to come back.

My read is they want to hire a new Technical Director before bringing in a new manager. Danny Landzaat has just been named an assistant to Grim. He recently was an assistant to Patrick Kluivert for the Indonesia NT.
