We finally hit the bar on that corner.

Great ball by Jannsen (finally) to release Boerrigter who hits the bar again.

Let Lodeiro and some of the youngsters play in second half. It can't get any worse anyway.

Mediocre first half and the only two players worth anything on the pitch are Eriksen and Boerrigter. Cheap goals again conceded. Anita is caught upfield on the second one and nobody rotates over to help cover. Oojier can't play the full 90 minutes and Janssen has one good through pass but is otherwise worthless out there. The AZ back line can be beaten but not by the lineup on the field. We really need two fluid midfielders but have on excellent one, one who has 100 year old legs, and the third is an erratic passer of the ball and a silly foul away from a second yellow and a sending off. I can't see how they will come back from this deficit.

We badly lack creativity from wingers. When not given enough free space Sulejmani and Boerrigter can't do much.

I firmly beleive that we can still win this if we put some pressure on their defence. They can be easily reduced to 10 men as some of their players are yellow carded and still fouling.

Eriksen is playing much better for Denmark. Probably the play their is better organized or he is getting less attention from opposition.

A very poor first half the non existant marking for the second was schoolboyish . I would give the kids a game in the second half

Thats better, more like the Janssen we used to hate...

We probably should only start 10 in our next match since we cannot play decent football with 11 men. Cillesen and Vermeer both come up with big saves to keep AZ to two goals. Don't know what happened with Vermeer, maybe back spasms as it looked like they were trying to stretch him out. Hope it is nothing more than that. I'll eat crow for at least a week as Janssen is my MOTM followed closely by Alderweireld. Janssen finally came alive and showed what he can do. Vertonghen had a good game in the back as well. Oojier was too slow when he was out there and caused some positional problems. Ligeon played well for his first appearance. Anita kept Beerens in check except when he was caught up field on the second goal. Enoh was terrible, silly fouls and at least three bad passes that put the team in danger; sending off was stupid on his part. Eriksen played well and I can only reason the substitution was made because he ran out of gas from the midweek game against Portugal. de Jong probably could have done better on a couple of chances but did play OK. Boerrigter was solid until he disappeared in the last 15 minutes though it did seem the team preferred going down the right side. Sulejmani looks recovered from his injury and was active out there.

In the end it was a well deserved draw but left me wanting something more. AZ was just ordinary on defense and whenever we stop conceding sill goals we might actually win a game. Midweek CL action followed by the classic. We will see what the team is made of.
