so far so good and we could have scored more. Big worry in that last 10 mins Az were getting back into it and our defence looked shaky .I fully expected Az to score. We must not let a 2 goal lead disappear like Heracles,3-3 early season and of course Vitesse 3-2 defeat a few weeks ago.

Once we got the second goal we started playing too casually -- we have to come out with more intensity in the 2nd half or we could be in for an unpleasant surprise. Another goal in the first 15 minutes would be ideal.

Yeah that's sort of what I meant. van Rhijn made a hash of his tackle but at least he was trying to win the ball.

Anyway, despite the fact that AZ is not a good team they've managed to put us under a bit of pressure, and I won't be comfortable until we're 3 goals up.

Well, that makes up for the goal from the non-corner I guess. We're really not looking too secure on defense though.

Going to be a heart attack finish. Hoesen could have killed the game in the other end by doing what Altidore did after him.

Aside from missing that goal, Hoesen has done really well for us -- he's made a difference in the balance of play.

Yep, agree. He could've had a couple of fouls given in dangerous areas too, maybe a penalty.

It wasn't that the defence was so bad -- the last line pretty much did its job -- it was that we had no control of midfield. Eriksen had one of his "the invisible man" games. And the times he did have the ball, if an AZ player looked sideways at him he gave it up. A game that we should have won by 3 or 4 goals turned into a nail-biter for lack of midfield control.
