Back home after 4 great days in one of the worlds most beautiful cities. It was cold but it was sunny so we were lucky .It could have rained.
Cruijff, my bikes and dope comment is not stereotype.Bikes are everywhere and when you walk around the streets off the Dam there are loads of shops selling dope ,even chocolate bars with it in. Obviously thats just around the centre.
Bikes ,with the canals and the beautiful 16th to 18 th century buildings makes this city what it is .Stunningly beautiful and there is nowhere else like it.Having the sunshine just made the place look even more magical. My wife enjoyed it.Monday morning we walked through the Jordaan area ,which was really quiet, and in a backstreet an old lady was feeding 2 herons.I have only ever seen these birds in rivers in our countryside ,here they were 2 metres from me in a backstreet.Magic.
I have told my wife that I intend to visit Amsterdam to see Ajax once a year from now on. She says no problems but maybe not in December.
The Christmas lights were lovely but they dont seem to over do Christmas like we do.No boring Turkey and more important they dont play those dreadful revolting Christmas pop songs we are subjected to . No hearing Slade with that dreadful Christmas song.
Thanks to Thijs again for getting me the ticket.
