he was never that good. scored because ziyech and tadic set him up so he couldn’t miss. he never created much himself.

We should have kept Lang instead of Promes. Maybe check on Berwijn (I don't believe I am saying this) now that his out of the tottenham squad?

eth now doesn’t believe the antony injury is serious

Ugh sucks that we gave up the 2 goal cushion. Glad the boys were able to leave with 1 point at the end. ETH did say that Antony isn't hurt badly, but still has stud marks on his ankle.

I see our passing and switching improving in the past couple games. Slowly building up momentum, but need to cut out mistakes in the back. Schuurs and Blind aren't terribly quick, so any mistake is punished as they can't recover against speedy players.

A draw is ok I guess. I felt like we were lucky to get ahead 2–0. We'll have to win the home leg for sure.

Team isn't looking terrible to me, but the midfield/wing passing combos aren't quite fast and precise enough to break teams down like they were a couple of seasons ago, so we're not getting a ton of chances. Gravenberch is a particularly weak passer IMHO. Antony also had a couple of bad giveaways in promising positions. I also thought they played a lot of long balls in the first half.

Only a few games in but I think they'll keep improving...

The tough decision for EtH is whether to play Blind or Martinez. Blind was so exposed on defense last night. Martinez is a much better defender but not quite the passer that Blind is. I wonder if Martinez would have done better on the two Atalanta goals. Klaassen continues to impress me. He did have a couple of bad touches but his game is so much better than when he was last with Ajax. Gravenberch is good carrying the ball but I'm not sure his passing is all that good.

Other than defending Zapata, Ajax did OK. We need two solid wins over the Danish club to set things up for the final two games in the group. Liverpool lost Fabinho last night but I don't know for how long. I think Ajax are better than Atalanta.
