After this week's match against our Danish friends two players in must be feeling a bit of pressure. Heitinga and Perez didn't seem up to par. Same could be said for Vermaelen, Sneijder and Maduro.
Maybe it is time to try Oga at right back. Heitinga does better in the centre anyway and he could then focus on that position while remaining back-up as right back in case of emergency.
Perez seems to have trouble finding his way in the team. As Ajax does not play with an attacking central midfielder and he has not been convincing at playing the left front position perhaps we should try Manu there instead.
Vermaelen could be replaced by Heitinga or Grygera but it seems unlikely at this point as he did so well in the recent past. Johnny will have to wait.
Sneijder may miss certain qualities for left midfield but his ability to score a goal from outside the box cannot be missed. It is an option to play Vertonghen there, move Sneijder to the centre(10) and play 442. Not a very likely option I must add.
Maduro will always play, I guess. Just hope he picks up some pace and is more careful about not losing the ball at crucial moments.
Babel and Rosenberg did well as subs. Wonder which one of them will be rewarded with some more playing time in the nearby future.

Does anyone know if Ajax have released an official team photo, or when it will be released?
EDIT: for some reason a post before mine was deleted, it was about 4-3-3 formation and central midfielder being the main player.

I had already stated it olol.

Looks like Ryan Babel is going to get Perez's spot in the starting line-up. At the number 11 position. At least for a while. I can't say that I disagree. Ryan's played well as a sub and he deserves a chance. Wonder also if we'll see Manu play anytime soon. He seemed up for it.

Maarten Stekelenburg
John Heitinga--Jaap Stam--Zdenek Grygera--Urby Emanuelson
Gabri--Hedwiges Maduro--Wesley Sneijder
Mauro Rosales--Klaas Jan Huntelaar--Ryan Babel
This was today's line up for the match against RKC. Seems to me that these are the guys that we're going to see for the coming weeks. In defense Vermaelen will return for Grygera of course.
In other words, with Stam instead of Grygera and Gabri in Galasek's place this is the same squad that played the 2nd half of last season. Third difference with last year is KJH's grown reputation. Chances are that opponents will be so scared for him that our other attackers and midfielders get more room to play as their defenders are drawn to the danger of KJH.

A determined Ryan Babel is almost like a new player in the side.No doubt he has mad skillz . If his head and attitude are right , opponents will have two very strong, very determined, and very skilled six foot plus attackers to deal with. Then there's Markus Rosenberg. Rosenberg is also 1.9 + . Welcome to Stamsterdam, land of the giants.

4th Difference: Henk ten Cate. He could be the biggest difference of all.

Have we got enough defenders as Schilder is likely to be loaned out and I note Herenveen want Lindenbergh!! With Grygera possbly staying we will have 6 so I assume we have enough.
Thoughts on this ?

I assume we do, after all Ajax can even play a 3-4-3 sorta thing, with Maduro or Gabri as anchor.

I doubt Ajax will make any move that will hurt the club's depth. If they move Lindenbergh and Schilder, maybe there's another move up MvG's sleeve. Like the long-rumoured mf.

Don't know about that but HSV are interested in Emanuelson, Heitinga and Babel-WTF who do they think they are? Ok De Jong and VdV fine but this is turning out as if Ajax is a feeder club. Ajax is a much bigger club than Hamburg, so I would say bollocks to this.

IF we sell Emanuelson and Babel, it will be in a few years and to a real topclub, not to HSV. Heitinga may end up at HSV, but Emanuelson and Babel will be much bigger.

I note that this Humbug story comes from some paper. Humbug sorry Hamburg were watching RKC game , probably looking at Grygera as Ko said but their press have decided they are going to buy 3 of our players.
I will put this story in the same place as Spurs for Vermaelen and KJH for Pompey. Roll on 1st Sept when all these stories will finish.

The stories won't finish, only the date of the transfers will. From september 1st we will read that Pompey want KJH during the winterbreak etc etc.
