Watched the match on ESPN 3 replay yesterday evening. It was wonderful to watch Ajax barnstorm to 5:0 and have ball possession probably 65 to 70 % . Really enjoyed all the goals from a style perspective. Not a cheeky or excuse me one in the lot . I know NAC were awful , but Ajax really put their stamp on this. Loved Lasse Schone's work rate and Tobias Sana's pace and flair . Really looking forward to watching the Moisander - Alderweireld partnership going forward .

My only hope is that Ajax will manage to : A) Sell Gregory van der Wiel , beautiful passing or not , to allow Ricardo van Rhijn to develop without the back story of a disgruntled , won't extend Greg ; and B) either Mickey Salami-mani will be sold or will slim down and be an offensive weapon on a club with a heavy calendar coming up.

It was beautiful football from a young side which imo is what Ajax stands for.

Agree with Blind my hope is that Greg will be sold, so our best RB V Rhijn can develop . We really do not want a disgruntled Greg hanging around .As for Mickey if he does not go
and I am not holding my breath he needs to lose weight and hope he will then be of use to us .The overweight version last night probably should not even be on the bench.

I had fun too, although I wasn't in Vak 410 with ajaxcolombia and Cruijff, but it was great to see the game and have a beer with you guys. Plus I'd forgotten how much I like Amsterdam...

IIRC it was 2-1 in the ArenA in 2004. Maybe some of the other Ajax USAers that were there can confirm.

Aveslacker, in the words of Ed McMahon , " You are correct, sir " . February 8 , 2004 . One v. Two in the league. Ajax USA largely in section 113 (Me = row 9 , seat 88) . Vennegoor of Assholink has us down 0:1 at half, goal on 42'. Ajax score from a Sneijder volley on 51' and and Mitea latches on to a perfect pass on 61' . PSV then threw everything at Ajax . But, a defence bolstered by return of Zdenek Grygera (2nd half sub , 1st match back) held firm. As I recall , Julien Escude was immense during the onslaught . 2:1 final . Ajax went on to win # 29 . Also met our new spits ; for whom PSV match was his baptism on Ajax , Yannis Anastasiou; at training next day. Great guy !

That's right. Great times. I chatted a little with Yanni in Greek. And of course we hung out with JOB as well.

I remember buying a Mitea shirt and having him sign it. Of course , he proceeded to suffer a string of injuries and was never the same after that. I think I'll hold off on the Sana or Eriksen shirts. Wouldn't want them to suffer the same fate. No truth to the rumor that I own a Boilesen shirt.
