Kroes has turned down a contract extension .Too much interference from Boards and non football people.Reading between the lines think he will go. When Heitinga is sacked which will happen sometime between now and Christmas his position will be untenable.

Something to add to this: he turned it down last winter, in January 2025.
Your post seems to suggest he had an offer to extend just yesterday or earlier this week and just turned it down.

Probably he thought he was in the position to negotiate for better when Farioli (not the trainer who was the first choice by himself) was surprising anyone with much better results than the whole world could ever expect with a very out of balance squad provided by Alex Kroes.

Now Kroes can expect to get fired any moment by the board members. If we would ever have a well functioning board of directors.

He can add nothing. But he already has all the trainer diplomas. Thomas Duivenvoorden, the assistent from De Graafschap doesn't.
Everyone knows Heitinga will get sacked at some point this season, probably when we are already way too far behind.

If Ajax would bring in someone from De Graafschap or someone else who already works at another club, Ajax will probably have to pay a fee to let that person get out of a current contract. And on the day Heitinga and almost all of his staff will have to go to the exit you'll have to pay off Heitinga's contract and multiple years of most of his assistents.
Fred Grim already has a contract at the club and all the trainer diplomas so he can be the interim coach when Heitinga will get fired. Because we all know he will be fired.

I know it sounds crazy, but there is nobody available, who is better than Heitinga, that is willing to step in. So Heitinga will carry on, now with the help of Fred Grim.

No coach (in their right mind) wants to step into this job. Timing is wrong, mood is wrong, etc etc.

All we can hope is that Heitinga stays near the top 3 in de Eredivisie. Forget about Europe.

Don't get me wrong, I think Heitinga is the problem and he should go, but I think there is nobody better who's willing to step in.

Agree,other than Ten Hag no other name is mentioned.He probably wants to wait before coaching again. Heitinga will stay until Christmas and we will then be 6th and way off the top 3.

I call him a clown but the real clowns are Ajax management who have got us in this position. Supervisory Board is a shambles 2 have left and Blind is staying until a replacement is found .Thus only 2 others are left .

Without CL next season our financial position will be worse and we dont have any players who will fetch 20m plus. With a poor season values will fall.

Kroes has cut salaries this summer but Klaassen and Berghuis will stay until 2027.V D Boomen is paid 3m this season and wont go until his contract ends in 2027. Our only hope is to concentrate on our own youth but Heitinga is not doing that at present.

I have to agree with @GangstaRiB. As much as things are screwed right now, it's not something that is easy to fix. We tend to forget that before Frank de Boer, there were several managers who failed. Bosz lasted one season and then left. Keizer could not even finish out the season before ten Hag took over. ten Hag was blessed with an outstanding group of players who he molded into a team with coherent tactics. He leaves and we have two seasons of wandering before Farioli comes in. Now the team is back to wandering.

Yep - they downgraded us from a manager who got the best out of a bad squad, to one who so far can’t get anything out of them. It was a bad move.

From the outside they seem to have done it to save money on Farioli but maybe he was always planning to leave.

This season we have to hope for third but long term things will only get better if the squad improves.

A complete clown show right now. I think the earliest we can replace Heitinga is likely in the winter break. But I'm not holding my breath for that.

This should be used as an example for - 'When saving money goes wrong'. They were going to try Keizinga as a bridge for the full year to save a couple million, but the drop in player prices will cost a lot more than that.

Reading interview with Kroes , its on showtime but read our Dutch guys comments , (google translate is brilliant I would be lost without it.)

When ,not if Heitinga goes then it sounds like Kroes would follow.Well hopefully before the Christmas break , I dont want him dealing with anymore transfers.For Heitinga to be sacked it does mean we have to start losing league games which I certainly dont want to see in any circumstances.

Apparently Jordi is a proponent of youth from his time at Barca. I hope its more than just his name which got him here. Of course Ajax Twitter is singing praises about him already.

Jordi has now arrived and will take over on 1st Feb. Finally we have a professional TD and I have faith again. He really needs to find a competent coach as Grim after yesterdays subs can go.
