Hoping to get the ship righted and back on track, Ajax welcome Groningen to Amsterdam for the home opener in the Eredivisie. Sanchez has left for Spurs and continued uncertainty about Ziyech and Dolberg cannot be good for the team. It's time to score some goals. Let's win this one and then run the table for the remainder of the season (as a supporter, I expect my team to win every match (I am often disappointed)).

Good to see as Schöne really looked tired at the end of the match on Thursday. I wonder if he will play deep or if van de Beek does. I hope it's de Jong as I think he has good field vision and can play deep the same way Pirlo did at Juventus.

van de Beek has done a decent job as the anchor man in midfield, Frenkie de Jong is more of a Modric type of player in midfield, in this case the right hand side of midfield. It makes sense to bring on Schone as a super sub, after say, 60 minutes, for e.g. the out of form Ziyech, to be fair he isn't the only one out of form.

Kluivert for Neres, KJH for Dolberg and de Jong for Schone are the changes announced.

Younes is sick and his replacement is not known .Cerny or Neres!!

a must win game ,just thinking this game last year was in December and I was there.would still like to be there now. Counting Ziyech as Dutch we have 9 Dutch born playing and 5 or 6 homegrown ,always good to see

Is Cerny playing on the left flank and Kluivert on the right? That would be more effective

Have the feeling Ajax can score a lot of goals this season, just need things to 'click' a little more.

Not a bad half. Few too many hopeless crosses but deservedly ahead.

There is so much to like about this team and the way they move the ball around. I think the goals will begin to pour in at some point this season if they keep this up. Defense still needs better focus as they fall into the trap of see so much possession in the opponent's half of the field that they sometimes forget what needs to be done.

So far, so good...impressed with more positive attitude of the players...Dijks having a good game on the left, working well with Cerny..need to practice crossing the ball.....but, as I say...so far, so good!!

I did enjoy the Hunter ,I have followed him at Schalke,great he's back and that was a classic goal by him .Lovely cross by Ziyech to set him up. Over the moon that I watching a right footed proper right winger and a proper left footed left winger .
