IMO the main factors are the squad, and whether the board panics and fires him in November like they do with most coaches.

It’s exactly why I don’t rate Godts. Wingers who take that long to dispose of the ball make defending really easy. OK, he gets a goal or assist every now and then but I still believe it’s a net negative for the team.

Finally the midfield is working a bit better and it just makes it clear how poor the attackers are. If anyone on the team could finish apart from Klaassen, they could have won that 2 or 3 nil in normal time. Godts doesn’t even look up, he just dribbles ...

I hope they sell Godts. I don’t think he’s even an average player. I know he did some numbers this season but I’m almost certain he won’t next season if he stays. Cash in now while he has some value!

Even though Groningen were poor Ajax did play a little better this game. They did a better job of playing away from the pressure to a free man and then getting the ball up the pitch.

It’s mildly irritating to finally see an improvement after the season has ended, I think the level they played here ...

I just had a scroll through our results this season.

Only once this calendar year have we won two eredivisie games in a row. That was against Heracles and NAC, who finished last and second last.

So I don’t see any reason to think we’ll beat Groningen and Heerenveen/Utrecht.

Just awful, never looked like scoring for a second.

Mokio probably has to come off, the way Ajax’s attack loses the ball we can’t afford to have a DMF with a yellow card against a counter attacking team. He’ll either get a second yellow or we’ll give up a goal.

Ahhh, I hope your “season comes to a close” comment isn’t tempting fate. Either way I’ll be travelling during the playoffs and I’m not going to make an effort to watch, so this probably *is* the last Ajax game of the season for me.

Nothing to add, it’s just been disappointment after disappointment from this team. They don’t deserve to be in Europe and I don’t think they will be.

I think I prefer NEC to win the cup and finish second. NEC would take the direct CL spot. The EL quals spot for the cup winner would go to whoever finishes 5th in the eredivisie. (I think that’s right based on SPL’s post last week)

Did anyone watch NEC vs Feyenoord? Injury time equaliser for NEC and it ended 1-1. Neither team is that good and they could both drop more points, I’d say places 2–5 are still up for grabs.

That was acceptable against a poor team.

I *think* we want NEC to beat Feyenoord and finish 2nd. But there are a lot of permutations.
