This is always a tough match for Ajax.

For almost the whole season, every game has been tough. Ajax need to scrape wins or draws these days. The only hope is that NEC drop points against Groningen. I doubt they will drop points at home to Go Ahead Eagles, who by which time, will have nothing to play for.

Klaassen, Weghorst, and Wijndal are all reported fit for tomorrow's match. If Klaassen even sets one foot on the pitch, I will likely throw something at my computer.

I can barely bring myself to watch this. We’ve been dire against the sub-toppers this season. Only a win will do…

We never seem to beat Utrecht.If we dont do so today it will be 5th place and playoffs for Conference.And to win the playoffs we will likely need to beat Utrecht at home in Volendam as Arena is unavailable.

Lets some how win today at least Gloukh plays in place of Itakura in MF

No luck at all on three solid goal chances. I was hoping for at least 1-0 at the half. 2nd half will be dicey.

Utter disgrace did not start playing until we were 1 down but defending on the goals school boy standard. had we drawn there would still be hope as we would be 2 points behind Twente who go to PSV. NEC home to Telstar. We will now finish 5th and will lose the play off final to Utrecht.

This has been a rubbish season ,the squad are poor not really fit and 3 coaches who have no idea. Today the kids should have been put on earlier.Berghuis and Klaassen did nothing at least Weghorst scored. On todays performance you could get rid of nearly every player,none are worthy of our shirt.

Will watch next week but my streaming service wont show play offs but I have no interest or desire to watch them.

If we dont win next week and stay 5th at least that last minute winner wont have cost us anything

And so it ends as so many matches have this season with a goal off a corner kick that gives anti-football Utrecht the match winner. Ron Jans gets the best of Ajax yet again by playing five in the back and four in front of them hoping for mistakes from Ajax which unfortunately came. Ajax played hard and won most of the duels on the day but three golden chances in the first half were left wanting. Any chance for third place is now over and Ajax really are no longer in control of their own destiny. One more match day to go and maybe only a miracle can save Ajax from the playoffs.

Player Ratings:

Paes (6) - had no difficult saves to make and his defense let him down on both goals
Gaaei (6.5) - played hard all game and had a nice cross into the box that was just a touch to fast for Dolberg to connect on
Sutalo (6.5) - had a good block when Utrecht was threatening and good on the ball otherwise
Baas (6.5) - honestly had little defending to do
Rosa (7) - played with intensity and went forward well
Regeer (6.5) - really would have been nice for him to have scored on one of the two chances
Mokio (7) - snapped into every duel winning the majority of them and was good on the ball
Oscar (6) - I still think he is just a light weight but was OK
Berghuis (6) - hope this was his last home match but probably not
Dolberg (6) - better than average
Godts (6.5) - constantly facing a clogged defense but did get one hard shot that clanged off the post
Weghorst (6) - got a nice goal off the corner kick
Klaassen (5) - I did not destroy my computer when he came on but Fred Grim's favorite player is just a dismal slow horse out there, partly on fault on the first Utrecht goal
Bounida (NR) - on for the final 20 minutes and added life to the team
Steur (NR) - good on the ball as usual and had an open shot that he hit just high
Edvardssen (NR) - on late

I wonder what happens with the players who will be going to the WC if Ajax make the playoffs. First matches are in a month and these players need to go and practice with their NTs. Ajax could have a real problem without key players, not to mention the lack of a home pitch.

With either no European football next season or Conference at best we wont attract any good players. Who will buy our players other than Godts Sutalo and maybe Baas we wont get any money for the rest. Itakura and Dolberg earn 3m pa crazy money for moderate players.Klaassen Berghuis will still be here so will Reeger .

I was on a train yesterday with Brighton fans. I said Ajax was run like an amateur club ,coaches are youth level,no fitness coaches ,players dont last 90 mins bought a lot of expense useless dross and our youth academy is a mess. And Feyenoord have given debuts to Zinhagel aged 17 and Grootfam 16 both taken from Ajax aged 15 as we refused to give them contracts.

Our club is in a shambolic mess and its going to take 2 or 3 years to turn things around.

I just rewatched the Utrecht goals on the Ajax highlight clips. Such poor defending. On the first one, Steur is up on the man with the ball but he fakes to the center and gets Steur off balance making it easy to get past him. Slow poke Klaassen is helpless and lets the man with the ball get to the end line where he can loft up a cross that cannot be easily cleared. Nobody was on the Utrecht player who had a free header. The match winner was just poor defending off the corner kick. I'm just sick of all this poor play.

Both goals would have been prevented if we defended properly. Sutalo did not mark V d Horn .Had we got the point a win v Heerenveen and PSV beating Twente and we would be 3rd. Even now IF Twente lose and NEC dont beat GAE(notTelstar) we win and could be 3rd!! I am of course dreaming as our team wont win next week,it will be another poor 2nd half and Heerenveen will want to win so they play Utrecht at home in the play off .We play Groningen in Volendam .

Our whole club is a shambles and most of our players look unmotivated. Rosa was ok and Gaaei gives his all even if he cannot defend .Mokio played well Godts tried but Utrecht defended solidly.Steur and Bounida tried but are not ready to be starters yet.The rest are poor,even Baas struggles now.

Nothing to add, it’s just been disappointment after disappointment from this team. They don’t deserve to be in Europe and I don’t think they will be.

What a disaster. That's all I have to say. We literally could've ended up in 3rd and in CL Qual spots. However, I think we 're better served not being in the CL next year.
