Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Daily Mail says Arsenal want Vertonghen and hope to pay about 8 or 9m euros. For such a small amount I would make him see out his contract and in a years time Denswil from our youth can take over.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
+1, they are clearly trying to buy him on the cheap. Didn't they pay €12M or so for Vermaelen? Jan is at least equal to him in my eyes. I wonder if Barca will get into the mix here since they are badly in need of a defender who can play both in the center and left fullback as needed (Abidal is likely not to return following his liver transplant). I suspect they would pay more.SPL schreef:Daily Mail says Arsenal want Vertonghen and hope to pay about 8 or 9m euros. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Right now, Vertonghen is the best centre-back available in the market, maybe only secnd to Matts Hummels. Whatever Dortmund are commanding for Hummels we should be asking only a little les for our captain.

Arsenal "bid" , if there ever was one , just emphasizes the silly in Silly Season . No way is Vertonghen worth just 9 mill.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
No fucking way we give Jan away for less than 15 big ones. He has more potential than Vermaelen

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Todays news Spurs in talks about Jan, I do hope he enjoys winning the league tonight because if he joins either of the north London teams he wont be winning any titles again.
He wants to join a big club but Spurs and Arsenal and not big clubs when it comes to winning anything. Spurs are just a good cup team and Arsenal have gone 7 years since winning anything. Arsenal's sole ambition is to finish in the top 4 and play CL . Jan deserves a better club than these. As to the fee well AZ want nearly 10m euros for Elm who has a year left on his contract so we should ask more as Jan is the best player in Dutch football at present.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I too would like to see Vertonghen go to a big and win lots of trophy's but if that means going to one of the Manchester clubs, I would prefer he goes to Arsenal. But where ever he winds up I wish him the best, he's been a great captain for Ajax this season and fun to watch. Not many CB can play the way he does. Sort of reminds me of a certain German fella.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I have included contracted Jong Ajax players on this post .Ricardo Kip of Jong Ajax has signed for Almere City for 2 years . A midfielder he did not get many starts this season so hope he gets games at Almere
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Vertonghen appears to want to go to Spurs seems as if we want 12m euros for him but Spurs probably not going to want to pay more than 10m.Another report today says Man u are interested.
Todays silly rumour comes from the Mail Newcastle are about to bid for Boilesen about 7m euros.Article says that they have been scouting him but given he has been injured for months this seems a nonsense story especially as he has agreed to sign a contract to 2016 only last week.
Although not cofirmed it seems we are letting Bulykin and Lodeiro go as we are not extending the options on their contracts. Not sure either had a real chance to prove themselves ,Bulykin only a sub and Lodeiro out injured all last season and never used as midfielder.
Finally we appear to want to keep Aissati and are talking about a new contract.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I still have a sneaking suspicion that Vertonghen may end up at Barcelona given FdB's connections and that they are the only team willing to pay what he is worth. I cannot remember what we got for Vermaelen but Jan is worth at least €2M more.
EDIT: I just see where Puyols is having another knee surgery and may miss the Euros for Spain. Given his age and the injuries over the past two seasons, it makes even more sense for Barca to go after a central defender with good ball skills. I don't know the French league well enough to know if there is anyone there that is in Jan's league.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
If you exclude V Rhijn who has only just become a 1st teamer we had in fact 25 1st teamers on paper for this last season of whom Verhoeven Silva,Ooijer ,Bulykin and Loderio have now left ,no new contracts being offered . Take out Greg Jan and El Ham all certain to go and we have in fact only 17 players left . Of these I wont speculate about silly rumours but Aissati and Sulejmani are discussing new contracts and its not certain they will say yes. With Anita fixed at defensive midfield will Enoh want to stay a bench warmer! Finally I see Serero being loaned out as he looks a little short as a first teamer and will both Ozbiliz and Ebecilio both here !
So our team is certainly going to see a lot of players out and of this last seasons squad of 25 I see no more than 14 being here come 1st sept .That is some cull . (Mind we can add Schone V Rhijn and V d Hart as certain additional squad members already)

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
report today states Spurs first offer for Vertonghen is way under what Ajax want . Still think he can get a bigger club than Spurs.
Real are looking at V d Wiel although on Monday Roma were about to sign him.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Anita's agent has said a club from the top 5 in EPL has asked him about Anita . No club is mentioned but I am sure he is refering to Newcastle .
A friend of mine is a sports sub editor at the Sun .On rumours he said nearly every story comes from agents basically they want the club to give their client more money so just phone a paper saying such a club is interested.
This is clearly what is happening here.Anita is happy to stay and with a contract to 2014 has made it clear he would be interested in an extension . This story is just his agent getting Ajax to start talking about an extension. The agent even refered to the fact that the club were talking with Toby but not yet with Eriksen or Vurnon but said Vurnon has a 2 year contract so there is no hurry (all 3 have contracts to 2014)

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I read a report that Van der Wiel is wanted by...Real Madrid. If this could be true then that's great as they sure have cash to throw about. Perhaps their so upset at not being in the CL Final that their willing to overlook his defensive limitations.
I do hope some team puts forth a bid soon. It would be awkward to have him around next season, as Ajax has a replacement, and which he could leave on a free.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
i think he would fit in well there.. both real and barca have no real concern for defending and their defenders just go charging in attack for 90% of the game, so for vd weil this would be good! all attack next to no defence.. sounds like him all over.Dave the mac schreef:I read a report that Van der Wiel is wanted by...Real Madrid. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
According Sport1 Milan is willing to pay 15 million and Vertonghen is also interested in going to Milan. Jan would look good in Red and Black, and teach Tottenham for trying to get him on the cheap. I like how Ajax is sticking to Jan's valuation at 15 mil.
A report also that Serero may go to Heerenveen.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
well I was hoping Chelsea would lose so Spurs would qualify for the CL and thus they would cough up the full 15m .Mind Spurs will have loads of money anyway as Modric and Bale will now leave them. Not sure why Jan wants to go to Spurs now.
I am trying to work out which 1st teamer has not been linked to Newcastle. A few weeks ago it was Eriksen, Jan and de Jong but in the last week they want Anita Alderweireld and Boilesen!! But the owner does not like spending money !! He can of course take El Hamdaoui for nothing if he likes .

Translation of Ajax Netwerk story :
"President himself Spurs tomorrow to Amsterdam to negotiate '
Tottenham Hotspur will meet tomorrow with a delegation to Amsterdam for the continuation of negotiations with Ajax on Jan Vertonghen. According to The Mirror is chairman Daniel Levy himself to Amsterdam in an attempt to negotiate a short time frame. Whether the loss of the Champions League by Tottenham Hotspur affects the ability of Tottenham Hotspur or the choice of Jan Vertonghen is still unclear.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Well Vertonghen's transfer to Tottenham is dragging on, I like the club but I'm starting to become really annoyed with them. On Monday Ajax met with Tottenham's Chairman at the Arena. I guess the theory was that if they brought in the big guns Ajax would be more agreeable to their terms....wtf? Seems as if he did not increase the offer...just came over for coffee and cake?? How weird. Maybe I just don't understand the situation: if Milan says they will meet the asking price of 15 mil can Jan just say 'no I want Tottenham'? and block the deal?
I'm all for Jan finding the right team - I like the guy a lot, but surely he would want what's best for Ajax as well...right? Then I saw a report that Jan's thinking he may play for Ajax again next season then move on a free transfer to presumably Tottenham.
That would certainly put Ajax in a awful bind. Is Ajax thinking they have to sell Vertonghen before they can buy his replacement? That's dragging on as well.... I sort of don't blame AZ...is Ajax the Tottenham of the Eredivisie?
Another thing that bugs me is Van der Wiel. I can only think of one or two former or current Ajax players that I dislike but Greg is one centimeter from that list. He turned down an offer from Roma...he prefers a 'big' club that's in the CL. The only thing 'big' time about him is his ego! He was lucky to get his starting position back after injury. I was hoping Van Rhijn would had kept it....
Both these players need to move on so Ajax can move on as well. These things are always complicated. Breaking up is hard to do....

I don't think you understand the mentatlity of modern footballers.
The good ones (like Jan) might give 100% for the club when they are wearing the shirt and are on the pitch, but don't confuse that with them looking after their own interests 100% when it comes to their career planning at the end of a contract. To be clear, I would do the same.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Jan has made some comments that he hopes Ajax gets a decent transfer fee but of course he wants to go to a team he feels he will fit in with. I'm just surprised Theres Barcelona hasn't been mentioned much. maybe de Boer will weigh in on this. personally I think it's the best club for him and he would get champions league football for sure. no guarantee with Spurs

Yeah. Who in their right mind would say to themselves (for example), "I'll go live in a city I don't like and work for a company I don't like, just so my previous employers get a good deal..."Manneken Pis schreef: Wrong.
