Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he is closing in on Jan Vertonghen but admits a deal is not done yet.
Redknapp is keen to wrap up a move for the Belgium international and a deal is expected to go through, but it could be another couple of weeks before it is completed.
Arch rivals Arsenal are also in the hunt for the Ajax central defender but the player has opted for White Hart Lane and Redknapp is confident of landing him in a deal worth £14million.
The Spurs boss believes Vertonghen has a bit of everything and is looking forward to having him on board as soon as a move is pushed through.
"Jan's a terrific passer and versatile too. He can play at the heart of defence but also plays very comfortably at left-back," Redknapp revealed. "I hope a deal is done but I don't think it's quite finished yet."
€ 17.5 miljoen tegen de koers van vandaag.
