The trip to Enschede will be difficult for whoever is managing Ajax.

I will watch as it is not possible for it to be a worse game to watch than last night. My Ajax heart wants us to win but there is a voice inside which says a defeat will see Heitinga and Kroes out and at this moment I think that is what needs to happen.

The so called Ajax DNA means you use your own youth and if they are not good enough then you bring players in BUT they must be better than our youth . Kroes and before him Mislintat did not take in Johan's great words of wisdom.

How many moderate players do we have who are not good enough I dont need to list them but we have no 6 no LB and all 3 fullbacks should go.Dont think our wingers are good enough either.

I am still going to hope for 3 points on Sunday

I didn’t watch the Chelsea game, I was planning to but when the time came it just didn’t seem worth it. Sounds like I didn’t miss much.

At the end of last season, even before Farioli left, we knew this team would struggle in the CL. We’d probably be better off finishing third and dropping into the EL next season.

Hope for something better against Twente but I’m not holding my breath.

Tom ,you certainly did not miss anything .I consider Weds one of the worst games of football I have ever seen watching Ajax ,cannot think of one positive to say about us .

If Twente wins then Heitinga and Kroes hopefully will go and take Peerboom with them.Reading about him on Showtime as Jong coach last season the guy is a disgrace.Slagging young players off .

This is now or never for Johnny Heitinga, if he draws, I can see him continuing, if he loses, then heads must roll. But if he wins, then of course he will continue. Of course he won't be out of the woods just yet, but it would give him breathing space. Twente have a lousy coach in John van den Brom, so there is that.

Same lineup as Chelsea .Can see us getting a draw which means he will continue at least until the Int break which is after Utrecht away ,and that could well be a defeat and the end of him.

Is Moro actually *worse* than Traoré?

I think I would prefer Hlynnson to any of our midfielders, I know he’s not a superstar but at least he can get free and pass the ball.

Away win so it’s a great result. They were much more solid with Baas in the middle, which provided a base for a few good counter attacks.

A great 2nd half and those 3 quick goals were more like Ajax but we held on despite the penalty.This will give everyone some positive hope and no one can say the players were not giving their all in that 2nd half.

Three beautiful goals in about 10 minutes amidst a lot of very mediocre play otherwise. Ajax are still a team in chaos with a fragile defense and an unsettled MF. They seem incapable of creating large spaces on the pitch and need only look to today's opponents on how to do that. Twente created width in moving the ball up field and always had outlet passes for players to make. Rosa can have no complaints about the penalty call on the handball that made this game more uncomfortable than it should have been. Sutalo and Baas should be the defensive pairing at the back. I still don't understand the Itakura purchase other than to provide depth as Sutalo is more comfortable on the right side and Baas is better at CB than fullback. Still it has to go down as a good win with brief sparkles of Ajax football. Maybe the team can build on this but I'm doubtful.

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (6) - did not have a tough save to make and smothered a couple of balls that were free in the box
Rosa (5) - he is either good or bad and does not seem to have an average game in him; he was not especially a good defender today even though he had a couple of good interventions
Itakura (5.5) - OK, but Sutalo is better on the right side
Sutalo (6) - decent enough defending
Baas (6) - started at FB and then moved inside at the half
McConnell (5) - did not see anything more than just average
Taylor (6) - had to take a YC when players in front did not do their job and had a generally positive game
Oscar (7) - great chip of the keeper for the second goal
Moro (6.5) - forgets to play defense more often than not but was key on the match winner with the pass to Godts
Weghorst (7) - MOTM for me with the first goal and the intervention and pass to Moro for the match winner
Godts (6.5) - I was thinking that here comes another miss but I guess the Huntelaar talks worked as he got the match winner
Wijndal (6) - decent enough in the 2nd half
Regeer (6) - well, he was better than McConnell
Edvardssen (5.5) - came on for Moro as he does do his defensive job and did so
Klaassen (NR) - on late and did not screw things up

Agree your postings and yes Itakura's signing is still strange and we should not have paid out so much money but just signed a backup cheaply.Sutalo and Baas should be the central defenders. Reeger was indeed better than Mc Connell and I really dont understand his signing.

The 2nd half was the most enjoyable football I have seen from us this season. Utrecht in a couple of weeks time will be a tough test.
