Ahhh, I hope your “season comes to a close” comment isn’t tempting fate. Either way I’ll be travelling during the playoffs and I’m not going to make an effort to watch, so this probably *is* the last Ajax game of the season for me.

Wont be the last game as we will be in play offs but dont expect my streaming service to show them . Just hope half of this squad is not ever going to play for us again.

Regardless of today's result, I think I am going to cut this season's Ajax shirt into shreds!! I will never wear it again! The most disturbing news is talk about bringing Veltman and Blind back to Ajax as we need players who are leaders! Both are out of contract. Doing this will send a horrible message to young Ajax players who are working towards first team football. The only old player I would bring back is Jari Litamen who still appears to be in shape.

Unbelievable that there is no sense of urgency from this team. They are so disorganized and leave large spaces on defense. Now we head into the 2nd half where Ajax always fall apart. I just don't get why Klaassen is starting, he is so awful.

Mokio probably has to come off, the way Ajax’s attack loses the ball we can’t afford to have a DMF with a yellow card against a counter attacking team. He’ll either get a second yellow or we’ll give up a goal.

And so it ends withs a whimper with an Ajax team that had no urgency until the monsoon rains started. By that time it was too late to play any type of football. PSV did not roll over against Twente. Klaassen starts for what I hope will be his last ever regular season match and Berghuis can follow him right out the door. Pay both of them off as they are just not any good these days. The defense held well enough and we did not concede off a free kick for a change. I expect that Ajax will go out on Thursday night against Groningen who will be up for the game. It's weird that after seeing how awful Berghuis was in the first half, why not throw Carrizo on. Ajax paid money for an attacker, let him attack. He was the only one down the stretch how wanted a goal.

Player Ratings:

Paes (5) - made a hash of things late but maybe it was just too wet to make the save
Gaaei (5.5)- had one rocket shot that was saved but ordinary the rest of the time
Itakura (6) - one of the bettter players on the day
Baas (6) - decent enough
Rosa (5.5) - above average
Mokio (5.5)- OK and one player with a future at Ajax
Steur (6) - best of the MFs with some deftly weight passes
Klaassen (4.5) - retire already
Berghuis (4.5) - see the comment for Klaassen
Weghorst (5) - really never dangerous
Godts (4.5) - perfect explanation on why you are not on the Belgian NT
Regeer (5) - wasted money bringing him back last season
Bounida (5.5) - had a couple of decent moments but he is not a winger
Dolberg (NR) - I don't think he even touched the ball
Carrizo (NR) - sparkled under really adverse playing conditions; I would start him on the right wing Thursday

So it's off to Vollendam on Thursday against Groningen. It will be a fitting end of the season if Dies Janse gets the match winner off a corner kick.

My son bought my granddaughter over as the game ended so only just catching up with comments. If this was not the final game I am sure the game would have been abandoned after 80 mins but ref in a difficult position as playoffs on Thursday for both teams. Thats the worst conditions I have ever seen in football and the last 20 mins a farce.

Overall a dreadful game ,even it had not rained for those last 20 mins I doubt we would have scored. Defence was ok ,Paes with a howler but think that was the wet conditions. Klaassen Berghuis and Weghorst did nothing and Godts invisible so MF was 2x 18 year olds still not really ready to play regularly. Carrizo the only attacker who threatened .

This squad is awful and although they may beat Groningen they will have to play Utrecht again and we wont beat them . No Europe for us which is a disgrace

This will go down as our worst season in 60 years but we have had 3 coaches who should just be coaching Ajax amateurs in Div 3.Fitness levels are that of our amateurs.

Doubt Triller TV will show our play offs so thats it for the season for me. Jordi has a hugh job on his hands, no decent players will come with no Europe and our new coach is likely to be relegated with Girona.

Today was a real downer as I just willed them to get a goal and its Europa and then it rained biblical proportions.

Ajax will rise again and I am determined to get over to Amsterdam in Sept or Oct and get in game.

Had my weekly squash game going on at this time. So was watching bits and pieces during breaks. We need to not play the older useless folks and use next year as rebuilding with the kids.

We truly do need a coach who gets into the details and has the team ready and fit at the beginning of next season.
