A report in a paper here yesterday said that both Ajax & F*******d are keeping an eye on James Harper of Reading.Harper is a decent little midfielder who was signed from Arsenal about three years ago & is out of contract at the end of the season.I would be suprised if Ajax were looking at him, although i must say that i think the English Championship wouldnt be a bad place to be scouting for new players

In that vein, I would humbly suggest one B. Convey, also of Reading, who I believe could play left mid/wing. He is aggressive, takes defenders on, and capable of crossing the ball. Has a decent shot, too. I would love to see him move to Ajax, but he seems intent on staying at Reading (for now). If their current form holds, they could well get promoted. Convey will also likely feature for the US at the upcoming WC, which could improve his value. Ajax would do well to get him before he gets more well known...English Eagle schreef:A report in a paper here yesterday said that both Ajax & F*******d are keeping an eye on James Harper of Reading.Harper is a decent little midfielder who was signed from Arsenal about three years ago & is out of contract at the end of the season.I would be suprised if Ajax were looking at him, although i must say that i think the English Championship wouldnt be a bad place to be scouting for new players

According to Johan Derksen, editor-in-chief of Voetbal International magazine, Ajax are interested in two Anderlecht players, namely Swedish winger Christian Wilhelmsson (hurrah, Jakob and Per!) and Belgian right fullback Anthony VandenBorre. In a report on Ajax Netwerk it says that Wilhelmsson might be bought as a right winger (I thought he's a left winger...?), whereas VandenBorre is generally regarded as Hatem Trabelsi's successor for the right fullback position.
Johan Derksen told in football TV show Voetbal Insite that VandenBorre's two agents are currently having a conflict: one of them feels that Ajax would be the perfect move, the other one disagrees. These two 'agents' are... the player's father and brother, respectively... :D

He is a right winger, and he's right footed.
He has all the qualitites needed to be a very good RW, except for shooting and finishing (to be honest, one rarely see him trying actually).
Otherwise, a good dribbler, crosser, passer and runner. Goos techniquw and one who likes to do the little extra. Can however have he's moments of inconsistency (like so many other wingers).
We'll, that's about it.

Wilhelmson would not be a bad pickup, he can play efectively on both wings and is a very good dribler. We need a good quality left winger right now, Wilhelmsson would be just fine.
Now anybody has the scoup on the other guy, its the first time i've heard of him ????
Would these transfer occur during the winter brake???? Or for the summer?????

Great. Sounds like he's got all that it takes to be a winger at Ajax: good dribble, good skill, crap shot. Typical Ajax winger. Let's have him!Per schreef:He has all the qualitites needed to be a very good RW, except for shooting and finishing (to be honest, one rarely see him trying actually).

I've seen him score some goals from long shots in Belgium. He ain't that bad. But he rarely come in a shooting position in the Swedish NT, but then again, I've never seen Ljungberg shoot properly either.Per schreef:He has all the qualitites needed to be a very good RW, except for shooting and finishing (to be honest, one rarely see him trying actually).
Wilhelmsson is currently one of my favourite players and I think he'd be an excellent signing. He has the speed, technique and can make his man, but mostly because he has the right mentality. He's very confident, and not afraid of trying, even though he might fail.
He has several times mentioned that he would like a move a big league, and I'm not sure he would be that interested in a move from Belgium to Holland. And he'll cost us money. For sure. If I remember correctly Anderlecht has turned down several other interested clubs.

convey is NOT ready for AJAX, talk to me when he plays the whole season like he has been for the last 10 games - btw i believe the paper said psv and Fword were after harper, not us
as for wilhelmsson, let's remember i called this one a year ago... damn i'm smart :xyxthumbs:

Thats the only problem i have with him, i dont know if he's worth 6-7 mil, i mean he is a very good player but he is not a star player... he's solid but not star studed. He has reached his full potential as a player so what you see is what you get. Still we bought Charistea for similar money so we might be able to do so with him too.He would be a solid transfer but he is not the one who is going to change our fortune.Per schreef:Yeah,
if I remember it correctly they turned down a approx of 5MEUR offer from Fiorentina not to long ago.

Nah, I don't believe Wilhelmsson has reached full potential yet. He's not an old player, not that expreienced either. Sure, he's been playing on high level for a while, but he hasn't been ordinary in the Swedish NT that long. If he moved to a better club, and gets to play a lot, I'm sure he can still take a couple of steps in his development.Venezuelan Ajacied schreef: He has reached his full potential as a player so what you see is what you get.

Huntelaar...?
This is slowly developing into a very serious rumour...
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, topscorer of Heerenveen and one of Holland's best 'goalgetters' at the moment, is ready to leave his club at season's end or possibly in the winter break, if there is a good offer. He prefers a transfer to a big Dutch club over a transfer abroad and in today's Algemeen Dagblad he is quoted saying that he prefers a team that always plays offensively, around the box of the opposition, with wingers and a 'number 10' right behind the strikers. He underscored that he is good in tiny spaces and good with his back to the goal. He admitted that he is thinking of AZ, Feyenoord and - particularly - Ajax.
He said that he is not afraid of the pressure: "At Ajax a striker will always be compared to Ibrahimovic. If you're afraid of that you can never play for Ajax. I mean: they had Johan Cruyff."
Let's face it: that's an open application letter. This guy wants to join us quite obviously and I think we should do it. He's a very good goalscorer and a great footballer, which I guess makes up for the fact that he's ugly and has a babyface.

Huntelaar sounds very interesting.
A good no9 is the missing link (and LW). And yes, that statement is as close to a "PLEASE SIGN ME" shout that you can get in the media.
I like the fact that he took on the pressure before hand. Aiming high is never a bad thing. Even if he's no Cruyff of even Ibrahimovic. At this state I'll settle for less actually.
Zoef: Boukhari and Wilhelmsson are very different players and have their main positions on separate flanks. And Boukhari is regarded a central midfielder now so I don't think he's out on Wilhelmsson's account (should he come that is).

Tough one, he is young and talented but i just dont see him at ajax. But I must say he is a very consistant goalscorer. The other problem i see is his height 1,82 that is Rosenbergs height and we all know the tough time he is having. I dont know i think i'll flip a coin  and who would go if he comes?????
